ABOUT GIVING UP MEDICINE
HbA1c 6.8 is OK and if your levels were a lot higher previously that is good. I've not used the medication you are on, I've been diabetic for 5.5 years and have been on 1000mg or metformin twice a day after meals. My HbA1c has come down from 7.8 to 6.3 in that time and my diabetic team are very happy with me. My meds haven't been reduced and my GP has also said he will keep me on some metformin because of its other potential to protect from some cancers and heart problems.
If you have just chosen not to take your meds then I would say that you need to speak to your diabetic team, you should never come off any meds without proper medical advice. Your levels are still within the diabetic range and even when they get into the non-diabetic range you will still be considered to be diabetic because it is so easy to slip back. If you are not taking meds at all and your levels are still averaging 6.8 then you will be having higher levels as well as the lower ones.
Try reducing your carbohydrate intake and take some exercise, it all helps regulate your blood glucose levels but definitely go and see your diabetic team asap and get t hings check
