Hi I often have a higher blood sugar level on waking in the morning than prior to bed time despite not having eaten anything since earlier in the evening

Very simplistic explanation.....Your body releases "stored" glucose during the night to stop hypoglycaemia during the night. in normal non diabetic people this will trigger a release of insulin in diabetics our insulin system is wonky, hence on waking our levels are higher than before we go to bed.

Thanks really helpful as it was beginning to worry me. I think sometimes if things like this were explained soon after diagnoses it would save anxiety
