Can statins accelerate or trigger the onset of type 2 diabetes?

I started on a low dose of statins around 2006. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2008.

I have had Diabetes type 2 for about ten years and never been on any statins so don't know if there is a connection

There may be correlation between high blood sugar, hypertension and bad lipids. Though still debated, I suspect long term use of metformin leads to a state where insulin production may get hampered. I first found out about my diabetic condition in 2005. It reversed. In 2008 it was bad: 11.3% on HBA1C. Assumed reversal but did not monitor for long enough. Rediscovered Jan 11, 2014 (11.6%) and found reduction in values (9.8%, 9.0%) and now 7.9%. I am 61. Never took any medicine for diabetes. [e-mail]

I add this: After taking a meal including 50 gram uncooked white basmati rice, 1 hour post prandial was 142 and two hours 162. {There may be correlation between high blood sugar, hypertension and bad lipids. Thanks for your response, I have given statins 'thumbs down', I thinbk that far more independent researcdh has to be carried out to prove their value.
