Has anyone had REM Sleep Disorder before getting parkinsons?

I have sleep apnea. Parkinson's really messes with me, don't sleep for a couple days, then I sleep 12-24 hours. That is just resent though. Norm for me is very little sleep.

I too have a sleeping disorder that only started a few months ago, awake for days, having very short naps during the day, I just wish I could get a bit of a routine.

You might want to have a sleep study done. This is where I was diagnosed with REM sleep disorder. It is kind of complicated to explain, but this computer could give you information to see if it applies to you. I have to take 3 to 3.5 miligrams of clonopin for sleep. I sleep, but it is not good sleep. Interested to know what you have to say about this. Thanks.

I was diagnosed with REM sleep disorder and my doctor put me on Clonazepam .5 mg before bed. It really helped me. I rarely, get up and stay up through the night anymore.

The clonazepam, even though I take 3 to 3.5 mg per night helps, but still does not keep the constant dreaming and acting out dreams at bay. I usually wake up with a headache if I have had anxiety dreams which seems all night. I was to try to decrease clonazepam and gradually add melatonin to 12mg, but I got to 2 clo. and 9 mel. and quit. It didn't help and actually seemed worse. Tired of feeling tired, and wonder if this will lead to parkinsons.

Good morning. I came across your post about REM Sleep Disorder. I see that you posted 5 years ago, but I thought I would follow up and see how you are doing? My husband is 63 and has had REM Sleep Disorder since he was 52. He hasn't been diagnosed with Parkinson's but I wonder. He was on the drug you mentioned but the side effects were awful and his kidney's couldn't handle. He takes Charlotte's Web CBD Oil and Mary's Medicine CBN pills and he sleeps thru the night most nights. These two have changed is life as most nights he would have the dreams, shouting and fighting. Hope to hear back from you and just like your question I to understand that sometimes REM Sleep Disorder is a pre-curser to PD. Hope to hear back from you. Laura
