This study is from January 1997. I would guess if there were any validity or merit to this study, it would have been proven by now.

Have you tried gabapentin?

Yes. I am on it now at a very low dose of 200 mg twice a day for anxiety. But it also surprisingly gives me some movement relief that is somewhat useful.

My doctor prescribed it mostly because of its safety profile. It is off label though

sorry for the spelling. Does it help with sleep. I have some 100 mgs my gp gave me for low back pain. Do you take other meds too?

yes, it does a little bit. I take Sinemet as well along with Amantadine and Nourianz.

Thank you for your reply. My gp really wanted me to try it. I may give in and do that. I was reducing my Clonazapam and am off it now. I only take Rytary.I’m getting to the point of needing something else. Does amantadine help you? I’m assuming you have dyskinesia.

Yes I have dyskinesia. Amantadine does help with this. In fact, I also take propranolol which also quiets down the tremors. Gabapentin helps smooth everything out along with Nourianz.

Working in concert with each other, they work to give me an OK day until they don't. I get speech problems if there is any deviation from the carefully titrated doses of all the medication and in any case, I get low blood pressure every day. It gets worse towards the evening. Yesterday, it was 93/55. I could hardly walk.

So, it's a case of damned if I do, damned if I don't. All these medicines lower blood pressure and unfortunately there is not much I can do about it..1 I am looking for ways to increase my blood pressure zuc as a saltier diet.

This is why my doctor /MDS proposed DBS, which I am not sure about. My perspective is that if all the medications work in tandem, why should I go for DBS. The answer the doctor gives me is that the medication cocktail is difficult to constantly adjust and maintain. He also is dangling the carrot of a better Quality of Life and says that they can "program around the speech issues"🙄😁🙂

Time will tell.

I have a curiosity question. Do you have speech issues?

Not really. Once in a while I may stutter. Not very often.

My biggest issue is walking.

Can you please explain?

it’s as simple as this. When my meds don’t work or in between doses, I can barely walk.

also my lower back hurts. When Rytary is working, I do fine. Back pain goes away and I walk normally.
