does anyone have foot dystonia where their toes curl under?
foot dystonia: does anyone have foot... - Cure Parkinson's
foot dystonia
yes, I do. started in my left foot and then my left ankle also and now started in right foot
My first pd symptoms included dystonias in my right fingers and toes in 1999. It has slowly worsened and is worse without c l dopa.
Yes, I do. Am going to a new podiatrist to see about orthotics.
my toes on left foot curl under as through I were attempting to grip a branch. It is uncomfortable but doesn't really hurt. It makes it hard to walk, tho. I thought it was dyskenesia, not dystonia
Thank you for he response!
My toes curl now anytime I go barefoot!
I am due for the Botox shots next weeks but I am trying to find alternative treatment for my toes! Botox works wonders on my neck!
Every time I walk on the treadmill my toes on my left foot curl and hurt...all part of PD.
Me too11 I want to walk on the treadmill, but can only do a few steps before the curling starts on my Left foot!
My toes curl on my left foot too and now can't even walk on the treadmill! I do spend a lot of time on my spinner bike!
Yes! Mostly on my right foot. And usually when I'm overtired and/or the meds are wearing off. Guess it's just part and parcel of the package.
yes I have this but only occurs when I think about it or stress out. Most of the time it is not a problem but when it is all my toes try to curl and it is extremely difficult to walk. This the right foot. Only have currently tremors on lower jaw and right arm. Been Dx since 2003.
Husband with PD saw podiatrist yesterday. Has three pair of $300 Rx shoes. Still has foot pain. Bad at night. DBS took care of tremors, foot dystonia getting worse. Uses "toe dudes" under toes to bridge gap. Said yesterday he would like to take a sledge hammer to toes to flatten them out. I said "how bout if I just use it where it might do more good". (on the tomato stakes of course)
I have this problem, on right and left foot - it pains when I`m walking, I walk like a cow when it comes, It`s not always, The fingers are bended in the morning before the medicines.,
What med do you take for the curling toes? I have Botox every 10 weeks butt aaam looking for an alternative for my feet!
When I get such problems, it seems to be the time to take medicines. When I wake up early in the morning at 4 - and my fingers curls, it`s time to take Madopar. After some minutes, the fingers are "good". When I have problems with my feet, I also have to take Madopar. I have most problems when I am tired or stressed. It also helps me to think I am walking to fast for my capasity: It is better to walk slowly in this situation.
I have the problem with my right foot. Started about 6 or 7 months back.
I have toes curling and then pain shoots up legs. Getting my first round of Botox injections which is supposed to elevate this issue. We'll see Friday I guess. Too bad injecting it near the eyes didnt address my feet. Could take care of some extra wrinkles
Good luck with the Botox!! I get it every ten weeks for my neck and feet! It worked great on my neck!! Yes it would be nice if it took care on wrinkles!!! Wishful dreaming!
I often have this, mainly in my right foot, will be interested in how the Botox does.
What's even worse is when the big toe goes up, usually in the night, all I can do is get out of bed and use my other foot to stand on it! Luckily it hasn't happened when I'm wearing shoes (yet!)
I just attenended a symposium on PD and the use of Botox . Many of the attending folks who had tried Botox had positive results. One woman even had shots of it to relieve her neck pain. Just make sure you go to somebody licensed and experince in given Botox.
for years now... is there a connection?
Yes I have dystonia in my neck, hands and feet. I take turmeric (the spice) for it yo can also take yellow mustard. . I keep the little yellow mustard packs yo can get with hot dogs in my purse. I pick them up when ever I see them. The turmeric I went and bought capsules and I also made some They work great just take it as soon as you fee it coming
yes all the time.
have a great day

Yes I get it in the morning after I'm up and before I take meds. I have to wait an hour between thyroid and sinemet and then breakfast. Fortunately that's the only time so far but it's impossible to take a step when it hits. I've had gait impaired on left side PD 10 yrs, dx 8, on sinemet 6. Toe curling is on right foot!
Toe stretches seem to help such as standing on toes while holding on to counter.
Thank you for responding!
Sometimes I feel so alone! I had a total knee replacement 5 months ago and for some strange reason My toes don't curl on the side! BUT, they curl so much on the left side that I can barely walk!
I usually get Botox in my feet but I am looking for alternative ways!
What is NONI and where do I find it?
Yes I do. My toes curl under and feet turn inward and it hurts so bad that it feels like my feet are being twisted off my legs. I thank God for Botox. I get Botox Injections every three months and it has been very helpful. I been getting injections for over two years now.
I tried all the health remedies and it did not work for me. But each of us are different. I pray that you will find what works for you.
Margie
Thank u for listing something not chemical
Its the chemicals that is destroying our bodie and adding. To the high amounts of toxins that kill, steal and destroy our braincells..
Noni is good for many illnesses..
This site is fascinating - a mine of information. Like tupelo3 this 'clawing' was one of my 1st symptoms. My whole left side (still left side only 8 yrs after dx) was twisting inwards & stiffening in that position. I could lie on the sofa in the evening & watch my toes, foot & ankle turn in. Same with hand, wrist and arm. Some years ago here in UK an organisation (I forget which) polled the government over free prescriptions & certain treaments which are available on the NHS for other conditions. 1 of these was access to chiropody services which are available for diabetics. Needless to say there was no joy - apparently the percentage of the population on benefits, pregnant, with other conditions etc etc made such a drain on the NHS budget that no more was avialble for PD. Incredibly short-sighted.
I am moved to write today as the worst callous or corn on my left foot has made walking nearly impossible (even without spasm) & my nearest (private) appointment with a podiatrist is at the end of next week. Keep the info flowing!!
My toes actually curl up and under. I walk around with no shoes on, and the toes on my right foot are standing at attention. But when I wear shoes/sneakers, I can feel my toes get all scrunched up and tight. It's not painful for me right now. But it is definitely uncomfortable.
I started with dystonia about 18 months ago. Got it always at night and could go on for 1 to 6 hours. It was relentless. I googled dystonia and read a lot about it. I thought I would start with the easiest solution first. One cause was an overdose or underdose of Sinemet. So i took one less dose and that didn`t work. I tried one extra dose and that did work. It also helped uncurl my toes.
I went to a podiatrist about my toes and they made me some rubbery pads that keep them separated and cushioned from below. They help keep them straight also. Your problem sounds worse than mine but worth a try. Like I said, I tried the simplest solution first.
Hope it works for you. To your Health.
Thanks for the info!!
I have an appointment next week with a podiatrist Also I am scheduled to get Botox in my neck and feet! I am trying to find an alternative for the Botox in my feet!
Hello! What do the rubbery pads look like and where can I buy them?
Hi. You can`t buy these in the shop they are made for you by a chiropodist/podiatrist. I think they are made from silicon. It looks like plasticine and starts out soft. They wrap your toes in it and wait for it to set. That`s it. After a short while you don`t notice they are there. They help me. I hope they help you too. Best wishes. Stay healthy. TeddyB
I have been bothered by dystonia in my right foot since early in my living with PD experiment. It just drives me wild and it does feel as if your foot is "making a fist". That seems to be the best description. If I am on time with my meds it doesn't happen as often but sometimes I wake up with it.
Yes!! My toes curling was my first sign that something was not right ! And when I am a little late in taking my MED's (my right side toes curl) the curling can get so bad , that I have a hard time walking.
Glad to hear it ia working for you. I wasted somewhere between $400 to $500 and saw no help or relief by drinking it. It was the Tahitian Noni too.
I had botox injections into the area of my neck near my voice box to improve my speech. I have chosen to stop this and just make the most of my hoarse weak voice.
I wear podiatry inserts which do help with my walking. I also hope ithey lessen the stress on my ankles, knees and hips
This was the first I heard about noni, so I google'd it. The webmd.com web site suggested some possibly serious side effects, so I think I will give noni a body swerve until such time as my medical practitioners recommend it.
I am finding zandopa and/or dark chocolate with 85% cocoa to be good for producing dopamine - and reducing (eradicating) dystonia in my right foot. Sinemet seems to have been making it worse, possibly due to levadopa-induced dyskinesia which I discovered on the Internet in recent days - my Parkinson's nurse has been increasing my Sinemet recently to cure the dystonia - and I think that might have made the situation worse.

My husband has had two knee ops but I am of the opinion that most of the pain comes from his flattened twisted turning foot .. He has had a painful ankle and I strapped it up with stretchy bandage it seems to have helped give more support to his foot and he is standing a little easier . He doesn't walk at all these days but I still transfer him from chair to chair and he adjust himself isn't of his armchair with me prompting him .
I am going to mention this problem to out consult ant when we see him next week .
How do you use the Turmeric and in what doses please are you all still having the Botox .
Yes but make sure you don't have CBGD .
