Hi all, I'm new here and actually I suffer from dystonia. I wondered if anyone else here with dystonia had tried mannitol, and whether they had any benefit from it? TIA.

dystonia and mannitol?
Mannitol is good for non-motor symptoms. I have reduced my dystonia significantly with HDT and Ketogenic diet and Magnesium.
Hi Kia, thanks for your reply. I'm not sure how it is of benefit, then? My dystonia affects me in motor-function of my left hand, foot and ankle. How does it benefit you if it is in non-motor functions?
Hi Swan
Like I said the HDT , magnesium and Keto diet help me with my dystonia which is a motor-symptom. Mannitol may helps in non-motor symptoms such as improving sense of smell or acting as prebiotics in the gut.
Interesting. I might try the HDT magnesium and keto then (though I am extremely wary of long term ketogenic diets), since I want to improve my physical symptoms. Gut health will have to wait!
Also, what is HDT?
I do mild Keto diet but with every day Intermittent fasting.
HDT : High Dose Thiamine
You can search the forum to find loads of useful info about the HDT specially posts from “easilly”.
