I try to manually stretch my toes up and hold them as long as I can. I don't have arthritic joints... if you can try to pull lightly on the toe. It should not be painful. If you can't do it see if someone else can.

Thank you - I'll give it a try.

Is it possible to straighten them by standing and thereby using your weight to push them back into position?

my chiropodist was very helpful.

she suggested wearing sox inside out and rubbing vaseline over my toes to reduce friction. she also gave me a soft rubber contraption which fits over your middle toe and stretches under your other toes, preventing the "curl"

sounds interesting. I wonder if she has a suggestion for when the feet want to roll out causing knee agony!

What is the soft rubber thing? Please explain because I use a soft device that slips over 2 or 3 toes and it works quite well!

Drink more water with your meds, this worked for me, also keep moving adn possible a doctor can give you a muscle relaxer, sometimes to much medicine makes cramping worse but drinking more water with meds really works. Kadie

I take Baclofen 10mg 3 times per day and it does help as long as I take it every 6 waking hours!

I have used (with great success) "toe straighteners" from a catalog of Dr. Leonard's.com

here in the USA. They have a flat sole and one, two, or three, elastic catches for each

individual toe. They give immediate relief and you can wear it in your shoe. I wear them

around the house with a sock on over the whole foot. Make sure you order for the right vs. left foot. Good luck to you!

There's an exercise for cramping toes - sometimes mine do really curl. The basic idea is stretching and curling toes over. So that this does not trigger the cramping in itself you roll your feet back and forth over a tennis ball or in my case one of those knobbly massage balls. I do it 20 times eachh foot -quite arbitrary number - but I find it starts to work in a few days as regards the severity of the spasms. Although cold will still threaten trigger they are not so bad.

My toes have curled under and big toe going upward. Quite painful cramping. This was going on for a yer or two and then my feet began turning inward with the cramping toes, The pain was so severe, it felt like someone was trying to twist my feet off of my legs. My MDS diagnosed it as dystonia. Stating a number of people with PD come down with dystonia of the feet. She sent me to a neurologist that specializes in pain, I now get botox injections in my feet and calves every three months for the past 2 years and no more cramping of my feet or toes. Please talk to your doctor.

Hi, I would recommend all of the above replies, as my claw toes got so bad I needed surgery, and I don't want to put you of but I have never had so much pain, about a year ago I seen a Podiatrist, and he informed me my claw toes needed surgery, I soldiered on, but I had to have an x-ray, and I couldn't believe, I had 3 toes with one dislocated, one broke in 2 places, one of the breaks was old, a previous fracture of the metatarsal. I had wires, screws, but I had pain but not the pain that you would expect from the breaks to my claw toes [Flexion deformities]. after surgery I had to wear a Orthowedge shoe, as with the wires sticking out for 8 weeks, I was operated on the 6th Dec 2012, and I still have far to much pain, partly my own fault as I can''t take pain killers, due to Pd meds, please get a x-ray as my toes were not that painful but the bone doesn't heal properly, In the end I'm no better of, my toes hurt like hell, and my corrected toes are no better. sorry to be negative, but I think we have enough on our plates with Pd, so the toe support sounds good, I know I will give it a try. keep fighting the cure is coming soon.

I Have teried the tennis ball exercise and nothing worked. I recieve 9 botox injections in my calf and foot of my right leg and on my left I receive a total of 9 botox injections. . I receive this every 3 months and it has been a blessing. I would not be able to stand, walk or do anything if the Botox did not work.
