I had restless leg syndrome which prevented me from sleeping. I was prescibed mirapexin and I sleep well now and the RLS has gone

I am using Serequel, not really a sleep med but.... You will sleep!!!!!!!

Ali knockout punch. If you are seeing little kittens swimming in your toilet, makes them go away too. True story!!!! LOL!!!!

I have been on Ambien for years. Started with 1/2 of 10 mg. If I wok.e up during the night I progressed to the other half. Now since I need to hit the toilet more frequently , I am taking a half 3 times a night... 15 mg. I get 8-9 hrs of sleep. It is addictive with withdrawal symptoms when stopping, but we are all on pills the rest of our days anyhow... so I tell myself.

I was given zopiclone but did not work

Since I am retired and usually don't have anyplace I need to be, I don't take anything and sleep when I am tired. I get up to urinate about five times a night (damn overactive bladder complication) and usually go back to sleep within five minutes. If I don't, I get up and watch TV or get on the Internet until I feel sleepy again. I am already on seven prescription medications (three that are for PD) so I am very reluctant to add medications unless absolutely necessary.

I take the supplement Melatonin. It lets me sleep and a side benefit is that it produces Saratonin (good for your brain).

I alternate melatonin, half of a clonipin and nothing on the 3rd night.

Helps but no magic bullet!

I tried Ambien, gave me nightmares! Now I take a clonopin, melatonin and valerian almost every night. I used to alternate with a benadryl but my neuro warned of cognitive damage. Got enough of that! Sometimes I need an advil.

Try marijuana. Works for me.

My husband has PD and I notice that his symptoms subside when he smokes. I wish they would just legalize marijuana. It has a lot of medicinal values. If they don't want to legalize it, then sell medical marijuana licenses. Some states have them and they run between $200 and $500 for a year. Of course, you would have to have a legal source from which to buy your marijuana, or be permitted to grow your own. Before my husband had to retire, we had our own wholesale nursery. The cover of one of the nursery magazines we received show a crop of marijuana with the title "Could This Be Your Next Crop". The article went on to state that several states are legalizing marijuana and wholesale nursery owners were given special permits to grow it.

What's Melatonin and where can I get some? Zopiclone didnt work for me either. A friend got me some Equate from US, its a cold remedy over there. 2 tabs works but I worry about a reaction. Alternatively Ive tried cannabis, but it wasnt any good for sleep, it made me laugh too much!

Melatonin is a sleep aid that can be purchased at the supermarket, drug store or health stores. My husband takes 10mg every night, but it really doesn't seem to help much. He either has to take a Xanax or Klonipin with it.

I have RLS and the sleep disorder REM. What worked the best for me is still working. Ambien 10mg and Klonopin .25mg. Takes awhile for it to work but it helps me sleep. Hope you get some rest!
