Since PD is "Idiopathic", I believe any answer has possibilities for a basis in fact. There are so many manifestations of PD, that there could unique causal factors for each. I think that autoimmmune reactions, such as the immune system attacking the cells in the Substania Nigra is a valid posssibility, or apoptososis, genetic programmed cell death could be another cause. for example Michael J Fox as compared to Muhammed Ali. both PD , both so different...

i often wonder where things do tie togethr. i was dx with fibromyalgia in 1998, with cronic fatigue, my fibro doc got me leveled out so i could function than all of a sudden my bottom dropped out , he sent me to a neurologist and in o9 dx with parkinsons, neither doc said they were related or caused another, but when i as them point blank neither denied either. this is q question that is always going on in my head????

i also have Sjogren's Symdrome , so are these all tied together thru autoimmune or am i just lucky lol

i have no solid info just questions in my head

My doc told me my auto-immune system is compromised because of the PD. I didn't consider at the time that something that compromised my auto-immune system was causing the PD.
