Life with Parkinson's is a circus act. We juggle with the side effects of L-Dopa therapies and the worries about falls and freezing. Who am I to say where you should draw the line? BUT not everbody get's dyskinsesias with L-Dopa therapy and I feel that while you have a life to lead why not live it to the full?
thanks u are right we shud not let it beat us i go out and i dance wen i dont feel too bad i force myself i think it important to be positive and not let the disease win
Nice to see that positive attitude. Do you dance at the Tower Ballroom in Blackpool?
Many years since I tripped the Flight lantastic on the sprung floor to old Reggie Dixon at the Organ
Eebygum Happy days and foggy neets.
I freeze all the time. I take Madopar and have just started on Roprinerole.I came off Madopar a while ago and freezing got worse. I think it's a job to treat freezing, something we have to put up with.I have no problems taking Madopar. Roprinerole made me feel sick to begin with but after a fortnight I was ok. Best of luck whatever you decide!

I take Madopar which is more or less the same thing as Sinemet, also refered to as Co-beneldopa. This stops me freezing and being at risk of falling.
Not everybody gets side effects. Reading posts on this website gives you the impression that they are more common than they are. Naturally people tend to talk about problems more than if those problems don't `emerge. With Levodopa it seems to be fairly normal to suffer a bit of nausea. That generally fades after a while. The bad side effects only seem to be a problem if you overdose or if you have been taking it for quite a while, that is in terms of years.
So, you may never get any side effects, I haven't, and I have seen some posts on this site saying that "I've been taking Levodopa for X number of years with no problems". Substitute X for 25 in one case.
The main problem is that after a number of years when your PD has progressed too far, the Levodopa looses its efficacy.
I take dance classes and Alexander Technique for pwp's. We practice techniques for catching yourself when losing balance and techniques for how to get moving when freezing. SO helpful. And fun. One teacher is a professional dancer with PD. You can find her on Youtube: Pamela Quinn. You got to moveit, moveit, moveit
