Has DBS helped your depression/anxiety?

If not have the antidepressants been helpful afterwards?

I had DBS recently 2 months ago, if you are depressed you need to tell your doctor ASAP. I have had no need for antidepressants so I can not answer your question. But I worry about you, one of the first thing I was told IF DEPRESSED tell us(doctors) because this is brain surgery people react in various ways. I learned not to have such great exceptation so fast. That was discouraging to me when after surgery I wasn't 100% and I had to give myself some time. I had DBS in 9/10. I was already on antidepressants for mild depression, but when the PD really kicked in I went into a real slump. Before my DBS, I used to wake up every day and was surprised that I was still alive. I wasn't suicidal, but every day I thot, "I don't give a shit whether today is my last day on earth or not".

I still have bad days, but I have to say the DBS has taken away most of the PD-related depression.

Thanks to both... according to my Doc the depression that worries them is suicidal attempts. I'm not there.

idont know if its the dbs or what, my depression is worse, i am suprised i havent .........

when i wake up in the morning i think 'oh hell im still alive"
