DBS
Dbs has effectively eliminated my bradykinesia, made walking easier, and given me my life back. It was very straightforward and not in any way painful or distressing.
Hello Andy
Are you saying that drilling holes in your head has no pain and does not cause any type of worry or stress?
Had DBS surgery in 2015. Have problems with freezing, still. NOW they tell me it helps walking but NOT freezing of gait. It seems to me that tremors is really the only thing the surgery does help and if I could do over again I would NOT have DBS surgery. Good luck to you.
Hi michaela , I have PD about 12 years. Had a DBS for 7 years.I do not have the shakes either , but the stimulator helped .You see in between the meds I got very stiff and uncomfortable . It felt like board . Could not relax . After the surgery it all changed. the stiffness was milder , I could move better ,it was easier to cope with the disease .After the surgery they have ti adjusted the stimulator slowly, until u reach the level you can tolerate and believe me , it's a trip .sometimes I was buzzing .When they increase it to much. Not to worry it was don in the office.
So even I had some problem with infection ,had to doit 2x . I am glad I did it.
But don't do it just because of my story , the surgery is long, 9 hr. half of the time you are awake. Think if it's worth. Good luck
