Yes Dbs has reduced medication by 75%. It has made my Dyskenisia disappear. With setting changes have not visited the doctor even after 15 months after surgery.

I am able to do all activities on my own. I don't need any caretaker. Feels I am in stage 2 of Parkinson from 4.

How long did it take to get your settings right? I had DBS 3 months ago and while there is some benefit, the results at this stage are somewhat disappointing.

Well right from the word go after my setting. The doctor said that I would be amongst the best 1% worldwide. I must say we must have done luck!!

I sleep for 7 hours at night and an hour in the afternoon. I work for 4 hours twice a week as well as I drive my 2 wheeler for my errands..I feel only my walking speed is lesser than before.

My operation cost of 13.5 lakhs Indian rupees in Mumbai was borne 98%. By my insurance company. Well God helped apart from my family.

I am sorry to be ignorant but what is DBS. My husband has a form of Parkinson’s called PSP and it does seem to be progressing. I read about the Pons device which is pending FDA approval in the USA, would do anything to get him that treatment, even go to Canada where it has been approved and being used.

Only a specialist can tell who does work in the area of movement. I am only a Parkinson patient who has had DBS.

PSP is NOT a form of Parkinson's. It is one of six PRIME OF LIFE BRAIN DISEASES (PSP, CBD, MSA, FTD, ALS, and CTE).

Parkinson's forms alpha-synuclein in the nuerons. PSP creates TAU.

They have nothing to do with each other except they are both brain diseases.

There is a community in HEALTHUNLOCKED......PSP. I encourage you to switch over.

I also encourage you to watch on YouTube, JIM BOWER of the Mayo clinic, MAKING A DIAGNOSIS OF PSP, CBD, OR MSA.

Hermie, where did you have it done? Medtronic, Boston Scientific, or Abbott device? Awake or asleep? Recovery time? side effects? I'm having mine done in Sept. Very anxious to hear all about the details if you would be so kind.

In Mumbai with Global hospital with device from Medtronics. The operation was awake till the mounting of equipment in. The brain . Recovery time 2 weeks. No side effect. In India we have surgery once for both sides hence care must be taken. Well if you believe in it go all the way and if done well u will be smiling and happy and help more friends to be on their own and live life better with Parkinson.
