Does anyone else experience problems with gout? I had it in January for 10 days - now I've had it again for 9 days. Can't take this pain!

I have gout, my Dad ,my uncle and my husband. The only pill I can take without messing up my stomach is Sulindac 200 mg . IF you catch it when you first feel it coming on it won't last but a day or 2. If you wait until the pain is unbearable these pills will take a little longer.. This is the only thing that helps. I have tried several other things but nothing works like Sulindac .

The doctor also put me on Allopurinol 100 mg This stops you from getting it unless it is caused from food.. It use to be called a Rich Mans Disease because of eating meats. I don't eat meats so I found out mine is caused by oranges, pickles , and tomatoes. Anything with acid in it. So I watch my intake of the things I love and take my medicine. Gout is very painful and I can't even stand

THE cover to touch it, Hope this helps. Let us know if you get any help or relief.

Does it mess up your PD meds at all to take that?

You must have an iron constitution!! I inherited the dreaded gout & fortunately I've only experienced the agony once. I take Allopurinol daily & it seems to keep the gout at bay.

Have you ever tried Black Cherry Juice Concentrate? You can buy it at a Health Food Store. Just take a TBL a day like your would cough syrup. It has helped a lot of my patients AND it doesn't interfere with your meds. It works as an antioxidant to relieve inflammation. Helps with arthritic pain too.

I don't have gout but I know several who have benefited from it. I take it for the osteo arthritis in my hands. It may take a week or so before you feel the difference so don't get discouraged it you don't get immediate relief.
