I am harving horrible neck pains, even in... - Cure Parkinson's
I am harving horrible neck pains, even into my shoulderblade. Does anyone else have this problem? I am 54 andhad PD for 5 years.
hi . yes i get neck and shoulder pain and hav had 7 wks of phisio on my right arm we are prone to this due to our muscles stiffining , when my meds wear off i am inclined to hold my arm into my body rigid . i am 52 diagnoised 4 yrs this march but had right arm and leg problems for yrs before .
I also get very stiff if i sit in the same position for too long. I find moving position and having a little stretch works. My GP prescribed low dose of Diazepam to ease muscle spasms - they worked but i didn't take any more after the muscles eased off andhave been fine since.I am 46 diagnosed 6yrs ago
Neck and shoulder pain is common with Parkinson's. It can be caused by PD, or it can be a side effect of the meds you are taking. Look at each of the meds you take on drugstore.com for side effects. Massage helps reduce this type of pain.
I also get stiff and painful joints, including my neck. It almost feels like I have rigor mortis or tetanus at times and I can barely move. I do range of motion exercises every morning for almost an hour before I get out of bed just so I can move about easily. Since I have early-onset PD, my neuro doesn't want to start me on strong doses of meds or late-stage drugs just yet.
I’m 45, diagnosed Multi-Focal Rapid-Onset Dystonia-Parkinsonism 27.11.2007. Neck and shoulder pain are both common in PD by PD, by side effects of a medicine or a combination, creating possible drug potentiation, in effect creating a further intensity in the combination of one or medications, caffeine, alcohol, etcetera.
Speak with your team of doctors and also your chemist. The chemist could issue you information about the meds you are taking, and individual side effects as well as the unwanted side effects in certain combinations of medications or non-medical sources. I look up information of my meds, I always book a consultation with my chemist when my medicine regiment changes, and if I experience changes that are negative call all with a request to speak with them. Communication with all of them is a great thing, as this is your life and you want to make the best of it.
The bonuses you are taking charge of your life and learning about your condition. Feel free to ask.

Yes -between my shoulder blades- been getting that since my early 30s, now 51. My mom who passed in July after suffering a fall which happened often & had textbook Parkinsons that went undiagnosed for years had the same pain all her life. We both slouch and she had ostiporosis (i have ostiopenia so assumed it was from that. I have to pull my shoulders all the way bacjk to sit straight. Is that a Parkinsons thing too? Do you get the pain when standing or all the time?
have this problem a lot, when I shake a lot. The right leg, arm, shoulder shake so much that the nerves in the neck and head feel så stretched that I get this stel neck and huvudvärk- I usually get my husband to massage my shoulders and put a heat bag on it. Take a Quick Mite . efter it has gone over I do a short spell QiGong. It is definely not medications that give you neck pain. I agree speak with your doctor about it.
I believe its a parkinsons thing. When I'm not fully up on taking my meds and stressed out about anything is when it hits me.
yes i get terrible neck pain and headaches im only 51 so got this young i was told it was arthitis 4 four years was dragging my foot then gp noticed tremour sent to nuero what a shock wen told was parkinsons but i dont let it beat me i still go out and dance got to stay positive hard at times i always wake early hard to sleep then neck back and headace awful
I am 51 and diagnosed 10/2011. My neck and shoulder pain just started 5/2012. Coincidentally I also started taking CARBIDOPA 25MG/LEVODOPA 100MG. The drug side effects list stiff muscles but it is hard to tell if PD or meds are causing it.
By the way, I really appreciate this community of PWP and supporters.
I would suggest my fellow Parkies to consume half teaspoon of turmeric twice a day in morning and bedtime mixed in milk, raw milk, if possible and to use only pure organic turmeric. It most certainly will help with all joint pains and arthritis. Please let me know if you wish to know more.
