Looking for any information. My ND has suggested using it with Mucana.

since i managed to convince my neurologist to give me rasagiline, the off times have lasted longer. i take it an hour and a half to two hours after sinemet.

Why are you taking it if your off time has increased?

i don t want to increase sinemet and rasagiline is better for neurons and less dangerous than sinemet

But it is not serving the purpose

rasagiline keeps your dopamine alive for a longer time before it dies

I'm 10 years in. Taking sinemet & macuna. Is there any benefit to taking rasagiline at this late a time? Would it help my ON time?

Short answer: Take it ASAP!

PD Meds are directed at two separate objectives:

- Slowing the progression

- Treating the symptoms (tremors, stiffness)

I went on Azilect (rasagiline) thirteen years ago because it was believed by many to slow progression. A worldwide, multi- institutional clinical trial of rasagiline ’s potential for neuroprotection was published in 2008 and follow-up data from the original studies has also been examined closely. These results suggest that the use of rasagiline earlier in PD may offer the greatest long-term advantage and modify the symptomatology over time. Rasagiline works best if taken early. I highly recommend it. Again, thirteen years and minimal progression.

I take Carbidopa/levodopa for symptoms and although it has had minimal effect on my tremors it has had very positive effects on other symptoms (movement improved and the ‘mask’ is gone).

Thank you so much! I was diagnosed six months ago and my progression has been slow.
