Sublingual apomorphine, that I LOVED, is no, longer available...so we are going to try 'inbrija." i hope it works as well. i am not ready to take on a 'pump" yet. (the VYALEV carbo/levo combo or the APOMORPHINE PUMP OPAGO?) Try the inhaler first.

Inbrija is like breathing in saw dust. It gave me asthma and it causes one to cough a lot. I tried using cough drops and other coatings.. Let me know if you get it too work for you.

I'm a happy Inbrija user for several months. I'm 9 years in to PD, and have reached the stage where I'm seeing more sporadic off episodes than I used to. Furthermore, they are not just movement-offs, the "off-ness" comes out in terms of a "dark cloud of gloom" appearing over my head, sapping my willingness to proceed with anything I'm doing.

Inbrija is easy to set-up and take, and in my own experience, makes the cloud go away in less than a minute, and brings me back to "movement-on" in about 10 minutes.

"Sawdust"? Yes, perhaps. But it's not too bad. I'd equate it to when one accidentally inhales some confectioners sugar from the top of a French pastry. Not great, but not too bad. But everyone's reaction to that sort of thing will be different.

Bottom line: I use it and am glad it is available. It seems helpful to me.

Dan

PS: You can ask ParkiBot.com about it if you want an in-depth, well-referenced AI interpretation of your question. Completely free, non-commercial tool I wrote for the PD community.

"Yes," the "dark cloud of gloom." Never know when it's going to hit.

I agree. Inbrija was the only C/L formulation that worked for me before DBS. BTW, THANKS for developing ParkiBot. Very cool!

I happen to LOVE Inbrija. I only use it once or twice a day, but I think it’s great. It’s been really helpful in rescue situations, such as recently, I was in a workshop making art, and I went off and could no longer use my Xacto knife. Quick Inbrija and I was mostly on in about five minutes. Fully on in 10. Nobody else even noticed.

My other favorite use for this drug is protein avoidance. I frequently seem to forget to check meal timing for my next dose of Sinemet until my alarm goes off right after I just finished a meal. Now, no big deal, I can use this drug right after a big meal, even if it involves protein. Inbrija saves my bacon!

BTW, with practice, my coughing is down to a minimum. Try taking several small inhales and sip of water in between each.

If you call the manufacturer, they will arrange for a coaching session with a trained nurse. It is done over the phone (audio or Video) or computer (video call) and lasts for about 10 minutes.
