The extended release seems to work best for me....

I second this recommendation. This is the melatonin that my sleep neurologist recommends.

I like Thorne products for quality supplements. I take 5 mg of their sustained release along with 5 mg of their immediate release. Helps me a lot, unless I have a lot of stress going on.

Hi, I am having difficulty finding immediate release version. Could you share a link ? Thank you.

Here is the immediate release. It appears that Thorne is no longer making the sustained release. Unfortunate. I'd recommended the Thorne 5mg immediate and maybe add Now's 5 mg sustained release to it. Now is a reputable company as well.

I use EuroPharma Inc. "Melatonin EP 120" (sold under their Terry Naturally label). It is a sustained release 10mg tablet. It is Vegan, Non-GMO and has a money-back guarantee. They assay lots to make sure what is on the label is what is in the bottle. Pure Encapsulations is another manufacturer that is trustworthy.

A good natural source is about 30ml of dark sour cherry juice.Available in drink form in Iranian and Turkish food shops. Also @ health food shops ( sold as Monterrey cherry

Some also have powder from these cherries in a capsule for. Don't know how effective the powder form is

I also drink tart cherry juice at bedtime with magnesium powder in it - threonate.

The fact that sour cherry juice is recommended as a sleep aid was already known to me, but not that it contains melatonin. Research confirms this: Cherry juice increased sleep time and sleep efficiency and increased melatonin intake by 85μg/d. However, the melatonin dose shown to treat insomnia ranges between 0.5 and 5 mg/d, a dose that is 6- to 60-fold higher. Thus, the increase in melatonin may not be the major mechanism responsible for the improving sleep quality. It is probable that procyanidin B-2 inhibited IDO, increased tryptophan availability, reduced inflammation and may be partially responsible for improvement in insomnia.

I don't care, as long as it does its job!
