Why Switzerland? What am I missing?

They seem to have concluded that FUS is only applicable to tremor based Parkinson’s. That’s bad news for me. I thought they could apply it to non tremor too. Trixidee has no tremor

I may be wrong, but it looks like the Sonimodul group did not participate. I did not see them listed.

Here is what they say about FUS-PTT (page 10) :

Expert Opinion

Aside from unilateral VIM lesioning for tremor-dominant PD,

lesioning of the pallidothalamic tract (PTT), as an alternative

to VIM, could lead to decreased responsiveness to L-Dopa

medication.

Therefore, even unilateral MRgHiFUS of that target

may lead to freezing, dysarthria, and dysphagia in patients at risk.

with no reference at all, no mention of Sonimodul's experience, no nothing.

As members have described their experience at Somimodul, and I read this material, I noticed the long list of "readily available" back up systems such as only can be found in teaching hospitals, as a safety measure this group wants to introduce as required. My sense of Sonimodul is that it is a small clinic in a somewhat rural area. So the institutional docs are suggesting that such small clinics are not safe?
