I know there have already been many posts about NR, but I'd like to get some current opinions from those who have taken it (any brand) before I purchase something. Tru Niagen currently has a sale, and I'm trying to decide if the brand is actually worth the premium price. Also, any opinions re: the two formulations they sell (300 vs. 1000 mg daily)?

Tru Niagen or a less expensive brand?
I'm not pushing Nicotinic Acid (although I take 2 grams a day), but I don't understand why people take NR instead of NA. I think the only reason the researchers focused on NR was because they had a patent.
Which brand do you take? Thanks!

But that is because I take 2 grams a day. The Augusta study used 250 mg. Please do your research. I take 2 grams to match the NOPARK study, but they used NR. There was a report that too much Nicotinic Acid can raise the risk of Diabetes. Search HU and you should find lots of info. I will try to write something up soon.
I have been taking TruNiagen for over 2 years to stop my RLS. It is expensive but it works 100% so I find the money for it. I understand that trials are now being held with NR for Parkinson’s which I also suffer from.
my hubby took if for quite a long time but I don’t feel it made any difference.
i had been taking 900mg of Tru Niagen for the last 3 years. After all the chatter about it months ago I decreased my dose to 2 capsules or 600mg. I can’t say whether I feel a direct benefit or not
I still take 900 mg of TruNiagen daily. This old post is still applicable.
I started my HwP on it about 2 ½ years ago. In 2-3 weeks I saw improvement in his cognition. I have had him on 900 mg most of that time. Now he’s on 1000 mg. For me I think it’s well worth the money. I tried the niacin that causes a flush, but I couldn’t get the dose correct ~ sometimes he wouldn’t have a flash then next time, same dose, he would. TruNiagen is expensive, but easy and works!!
Do your research & good luck!!!
Have a fabulous day!!!
Every PD patient is different and reacts differently not only to NR/NA, but all supplements. Hubby took NR for a while, no difference. He later started NA and he responded favorably--brought him "back to life." It's a trial/error road.
what is the difference between NA and NR
Want to know the differences and details of all of the NAD+ precursors? Trp (Tryptophan), NA (Nicotinic Acid), NAM (Nicotinamide), and NR (Nicotinamide Riboside)? They are surprisingly different:

Nicotinic Acid still looks like the best option to my High School educated brain.
I appreciate all of the input from everyone! Still can't decide what to take. 😂
