"The two-year program is designed to boost therapies' clinical development"

"The project of Gary W. Miller, PhD, a professor at Columbia University, will assess how to prevent further damage of dopamine-producing neurons by levodopa and its derivatives. Levodopa is the precursor of dopamine and a gold standard therapy for Parkinson’s that effectively reduces early motor symptoms. Evidence suggests the therapy may further damage dopamine-producing neurons due to the overproduction of damaging reactive oxygen species, however."

but wait - there's more.....

"Evidence suggests the therapy (levodopa) may further damage dopamine-producing neurons due to the overproduction of damaging reactive oxygen species, however." Be nice to see the evidence.

I've not seen anything conclusive either way. I've read: Evidence for levodopa toxicity comes mainly from in vitro studies which have demonstrated that levodopa can damage dopaminergic neurons by a mechanism that probably involves oxidative stress.

But not seen any in vivo human studies either way. I guess it'd be difficult to measure, in a humans head.

I agree. Considering how significant the assertion, I thought the author should have presented evidence.

This was just a paragraph from the article about the people who were going to get grants for research so it seems like it was not that in depth which was why I was looking for more research

Yes I was trying to find more specific research on that.

working on more specific information however did find this (2012)

I didn't mean for you to find the evidence. I meant the author should have presented it. Sorry, I should have made that clearer.

Thanks, tho. Interesting.

I don't mind at all I was just trying to find it myself but I think it was more related to the general nature of the article
