Also known as fava bean
Also green beans! Just maybe not as much.
I've known this for years...related to Mucuna Pruriens, the "velvet bean", which you can get as a "herbal" alternative to pharmaceutical L-dopa. Though warning...a single capsule of the extract (Mucuna extract, not broad bean) from a reputable supply caused me to vomit like I was in an episode of family guy...for four hours solid...
Thank you for sharing. 😵💫I tried one British macuna supplement for a couple of months and didn't have any problems, but perhaps I'm just lucky (or insensitive).
And that is EXACTLY the product I tried too. I might have been tempted to try some different methods...in terms of with/without food or other "aids" (green tea is often recommended)...had the side effects not been so...well... spectacular is the only word that applies. If vomiting was an Olympic sport, they'd have given me the Gold, Silver AND Bronze!
I grow these in my garden and they are very very easy to grow and prepare. Alternatively there is a really good snack food made with Fava beans that is yummy badabeansnacks.com
Who can tell us more about the fava bean better than our member Fava-1, who has written many posts about it over the past 7 years? Here is the link to download Aunt Bean's handbook.
