It's not Parkinson's, It's Swagger
The PD stigma may be the cause of the shock that the diagnosis brings. After that, you have to accept a disease that you have the same prejudices about. Maybe it's better that I wasn't told that PD can also be very enriching and challenging… It takes time to integrate this as part of your story.
That's where swagger becomes important, as a way of life. What a beautiful word, by the way. There is no exact equivalent in Dutch, French and German! But what I know for sure, Parkinson's is definitely not swagger...
Hi Shaky Dad. The video was pretty real to life and the music great. How are you after 24 years? Did you ever have DBS? What advice do you have for keeping dementia at bay?
Best wishes from the U.K.
hi there jeeves19! There is certainly a part of me that really likes the video as well (though my opinion may be swayed by the comments of others AS for my health, the last few years the PD has really ramped up. I've never tried dbs and likely wont at this stage - didnt like the outcomes i saw in many folks and benefits didnt outweigh the negatives- for me at least. AS for keeping dementia at bay, i dont have any experience (yet) nor do i want to. Scary prospect!
thx for taking the time to read the blog and for your thoughtful comments. Cheers! rk
I enjoyed the video (upbeat and positive) but thought I’d give anything to be able to walk like that. Lol
