Lately my hypochondria has been in over-drive. I have incontinence. That is, when I feel like I'm done , and zip -up, I shortly see fluid has soaked into my denims.

I use Myrbetriq, a drug to lessen bladder spasms. It works, that is, when I'm done I don't feel the urge to continue peeing, But the trade-off is that pee continues to dribble out and if I'm not watching it it soaks into my shorts and jeans. If I watch and wait for the dribble to go from a steady dribble to a drip and ultimately stop, I still can have urine exiting the bladder. But it feels like I'm done. There's no sense of fluid waiting to come out. So I zip up and later find urine soaking into my shorts.

The Myrbetriq was added because I whined about needing to get up at 3AM. So the medication stopped that but this dripping business is not a great trade-off. In the past I tried other drugs such as beta-sitosterol but that led to gynecomastia.

So I can buy absorbent pads to stuff under my shorts or live with 3AM bathroom trips. Anyone know whether kegels would help this? A friend with the same problem says he developed a yeast infection from the chronic dampness.

Another problem is my weight gain but that needs a separate post.

Kaypeeoh said that He wanted medication to stop getting up at 3 am.However his experience with prescription drugs is worse than getting up.

I tried 25mg Myrbetriq and basically did not help me. Asked for 50mg and with 50mg I could not hold my Pee.

Kegel exercises are said to help. Why don't you try adult diapers till benefit from kegel is achieved?

Pads are the same as adult diapers but 'absorbent pads' sounds better. The neuro recommended a rubber ball. I found a rubber dodge ball. I hold it between my knees and compress it to increase muscle tone.

I am assuming males and females have similar bladder structures - try stopping your flow by engaging your bladder sphincter several times a day - make sure it is not your anal sphincter - you will know when you have the right one when you can interrupt flow . My PWP was given a drug to relax his bladder and got into trouble with it - so I helped him get some control this way. I have lumbar nerve damage and had problems with control especially in cold weather and found that this has helped me as well. It takes time but worth it and we both have to get up approx 3-4 hours after going to bed and we have had to accept that ( combo of pd and advancing years and cranky nerves) So I do understand where you are coming from - ain't life a hoot?

The medication relaxes the bladder enough that there's less sensation of 'fullness' at 3AM but at the same time the urethra is less able to hold urine back.

you can try legal but they're normally performed incorrectly. You will get the best results if you see a pelvic floor physical therapist who will determine if your symmetrically contracting the pelvic floor muscles. PT trained in ISM is good or I can give you a great podcast where there are two episodes on the pelvic floor..

the podcast had a better approach to pelvic floor strengthening, it's more functional

I’m not sure if this will be helpful to you

I am female and been having a laser treatment called Mona Lisa it’s painless and quick 3 visits 4 weeks apart then a review for top up laser .

Also you can see GP OVESTIN it’s an internal hormone and I can personally vouch for it helping me , I am still using it whilst I’m doing the laser

I have severe atrophy internally effects my bowels and bladder

A pelvic floor therapist/WCS who's ISM trained will be better. Urologist will do some medical lab tests but the PT will be mower specific with muscle symmetry, nerves, fascia, ....

when are you taking Myrbetriq? I was taking 25mg every morning. I was up at least 2-3 during the night to go. ( I understand you have a different issue). I switched when I was taking it. Now I take 50mg every night around 8pm. I sleep through the night now. It’s great to have uninterrupted sleep!

Get pelvic floor therapy. The dampness could also lead to UTIs. Change frequently and shower the privates everyday.

When you are done peeing stay squated over the toilet and try pressing on your taint. You may be able to "mechanically" get those last remnants of pee out so they don't end up in your shorts. And for gadzooks, wash your hand when you're done 😆

AIUI, pressing on the lower left side stimulates the colon. Pressing on the right lower side stimulates the bladder. Gadzooks indeed.

Thanks for all the advice. Kegels plus squeezing a big rubber dodge-ball ball between my knees seems to be the way to go.

I went through the urology tests which was uncomfortable and expensive. Results- I have a teeny tiny bladder. I take OxyContin which helps. She also told me when you urinate and think you are done, stay seated for 30 seconds and push harder to see if there is more urine which there almost always is. Wearing a long length pad will give you some peace of mind.
