Daggers of the Mind

Shortly after I was first diagnosed with PD, I began to experience what I call "Pain Spikes", or Daggers of the Mind." I'd be thinking about something that I felt badly about, perhaps grief over my parents deaths or about being diagnosed as having PD, or my loneliness, and I would sometimes experience extreme pain in my head for 1/2 to 2 seconds.

When I described this to my psychiatrist, he said that he'd heard of this, but didn't know what it was, what caused it, or how it could be treated. My neurologist also said that she wasn't familiar with them.

Has anyone else experienced "pain spikes", and does anyone know how to treat them?

Thanks.
