Sometimes, I feel gullible for the fleeing by an over-priced, over-hyped supplement. As I understand, UA is produced by bacteria in your gut and without the right bacteria, your gut can’t produce from food. And, maybe the product is more concentrated than what’s produced by bacteria.
AI Says:
“Urolithin A (UA) is a natural metabolite that may help protect against Parkinson's disease. It's produced from polyphenolics in foods like berries, nuts, and pomegranates. UA has been shown to protect against Parkinson's disease, cerebral hemorrhage, and Alzheimer's disease. It also promotes mitochondrial biogenesis through the SIRT1/PGC-1α signaling pathway, which may protect dopaminergic neurons in experimental models of Parkinson's disease. (a)
UA may also promote mitophagy and suppress NLRP3 inflammasome activation in MPTP-induced Parkinson's disease model and lipopolysaccharide-induced BV2 microglial cells. One study found that UA-fed mice showed slight improvements in novel object recognition. (b)
Mitochondrial dysfunction contributes to the development of neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson's disease, so therapeutic strategies that target mitochondrial dysfunction may have promise in treating PD. (c)
UA has also been shown to reverse the aging process in the immune and hematopoietic systems by encouraging mitochondrial recycling. (d)
