Blood pressure monitors

I'm looking to buy a blood pressure monitor from Amazon. But I see more monitors for the wrists than for the upper arm. Do the monitors around the wrists measure BP as reliably as the monitors around the upper arm? My first thought is NO. Otherwise they'll be wrapping it around the wrists in the hospitals rather than the upper arm. But then it could also be a case of better technology catching up, as I have the nack of lagging behind current tech. Does anyone know? Thanks

I have an Omron wrist monitor and an Omron upper arm monitor. The wrist device is less accurate. I had to take 3 readings and average them. On the upper arm unit, one reading is more consistently similar to the next reading. The upper arm unit I use is the BP5100 "Bronze".

On the other hand, the wrist unit is much quieter when inflating the cuff.

Thank you so much. I guess a Bronze Omron version means that there's a Gold version which is probably much more accurate?

Yes, there are Gold and Platinum versions. It was my impression that the more expensive models add more storage and wireless features. I don't know how they compare with regard to accuracy.

The arm ones are more accurate and they come in various sizes, handy if you have a thin upper arm..Look up the correct way to take a BP reading, it's not they way most of the medical profession people take it.

i have aktiia and it works really well for me. I bought one for my dad and he loves it. Very small and convenient to wear, more like a continuous bp measurer.
