More good news (for mice) with PD.

The rotarod performance was significantly improved in A53T alpha-synuclein transgenic mice exposed to cFIR as well as B6C3H healthy wild mice exposed to cFIR. There was a significant statistical and substantive increase in the cellular composition of the Striatum and substantia nigra of cFIR-treated mice. Improvement in motor performance is seen in PD mice and wild mice and is associated with increases in cell volume in the substantia nigra and striatum after treatment.

Not just any mice - They used the adult A53T mouse, which is used by serious researchers who are interested in showing efficacy in a model that closely matches human Parkinson's. They did demonstrate efficacy. That part is the good news.

The infrared emitting blanket that they used to produce this result was used to line the cage. It is a passive device that allegedly emits far infrared (thermal) radiation. Exactly how it does that is unclear. It is manufactured by a company named Gladiator Therapeutics. Their website is here: gladiatortherapeutics.com/o...

They say their technology is patented but I could not find any patents under their name. I did find a patent under the name "SemiCera", which is what they call their technology, but the patent was by a Korean firm for an eye drug.

On their technology page they say: "Breaks down water molecule clusters within the blood to smaller clusters that can penetrate cells". Yikes - red flag city!

Even so, I suppose there's no harm in trying their device, but they do not state prices. I have the feeling the price is very high.

As a practical matter it would seem the way to use this device would be to put it between one's head and the pillow. However, the currently available versions of their product all have these big knobs which would make that an uncomfortable proposition. Perhaps someday they will create a version suitable for that purpose.

Near InfraRed in known to stimulate mitochondria. Far Infrared was used here on mice. I have a FIR sauna that I use after working out on a treadmill. The sauna causes extreme relaxation. I don't recall whether it's helped my tremor but I'll look into it.
