My husband is suffering a lot with aches in his legs. When I massaged his legs I noticed that the muscle at the back of one of his legs was bulging in one area and seemed almost twisted. I think this is dystonia.
Pain killers such as co-codamol and gabapentin which the doctor prescribed for central pain do not work. The co-codamol of course makes his constipation worse and the gabapentin seemed to make his balance worse.
So, I was wondering if anyone has found any antispasmodic herbs that work for the problem? The antispasmodic drugs seem to have a lot of side effects so we'd rather not go that route.

My husband is in early stages but was having leg cramps at night. I started him on daily magnesium, 250 mg (plus the 50 he gets in his daily multivitamin). This stopped the leg cramps.
Thanks for your reply. Dystonia is not the same as cramps though. My husband takes a lot of magnesium in different forms for different things including constipation but unfortunately it does not help the dystonia.
bonsaikid -I had been cramping in toes and turned in foot from the L/C every morning for 2 years never taken seriously by neurologist but finally got to see a Spasticity specialist who prescribed a muscle relaxant Stelax - fabulous result with only 5 mg however because my muscles have finally relaxed I now have a stress fracture in that foot! Once’s healed I will be looking into Botox in my foot. Good luck - it’s not an easy ride having to guess and experiment !
