It really drives me NUTZZZZZ!

We're all trying our very best to improve our health, right?

So we Google for info ... We watch YouTube health videos, of course.

I skim, watch, listen (in bed) to DOZENS of health videos weekly.

One doctor says: "NO coffee!" .. Another video doc says: "YES coffee!"

Ditto for "dairy."

Dr. Laura Mishchley says: "NO dairy!"

Well I just found THIS video that says "YES dairy!"

Yes, there is everything and the opposite of everything. In the specific case, however, I feel like following the indications of Dr. Mischley. As always, thanks.

The trouble with diet studies is that they may not include socioeconomic factors. For instance, I know Dr M suggests negative impact of canned and fried foods, but is it clear whether this is just an indicator for possible low income, and therefore a possible poor lifestyle, or the food itself. People eating high proportion of fish, lean meat and vegetables may have higher income, better access to healthcare, gym membership, and better educated about personal health matters. So is it the fish, or just an indicator of other positive factors at play?

Yup, agreed. Very frustrating. Dietary advice is especially frustrating IMO. Almost all of it is based on epidemiology which can have serious problems in the data. For instance, on the dairy issue, what I found reading in the published scientific papers was that those who ate a high quantity of low fat dairy had higher incidence of PD - so, skim milk, low fat cheese, etc. What about those who eat a small quantity of high fat cheese? These studies tend to rely on people self reporting what they eat - which is very problematic - and it's often not broken down at a granular enough level to really identify the trouble makers. For instance, grass fed meat vs regular. Organic vs non-organic. There's also a very wide range of individuality in our biologies, our microbiomes, etc. For me, it's so complex that I'm coming to the point that I'm giving it less attention and just focusing on eating a lot of fresh, organic nutrient dense produce and high quality protein (because it is scientifically proven that we need more protein as we get older to maintain muscle mass which is critical to being healthy). Anyway, enough rambling.

WHen listening to folks offering advice that is conflicting, I wonder if there is a way to research what they may have to gain from say recommending dairy, or animal proteins. Could it be that they somewhere along the line are helping with research FOR or against those industries? Hmmmm .....

Without spends dozens of hours reading the data ... researching the claims ... etc.

For me ... I watch, skim, or listen to DOZENS of health videos weekly.

After two years of doing this ... I have my 'go to' list of YouTub docs that I trust.

Here's my top several:

Dr Mark Hyman

Dr Peter Attia

Dr Rhondra Patrick

Dr Huberman

Dr. Pradip Jamnadas, MD
