We all know that "diet and exercise" are the most prescribed remedies/ therapies for our PD.
If you're like me... you often "forget"(ahem) to do enough exercise, right?
Well since I bought this $50 reminder-gadget from Amazon I've been FAITHFULLY doing 'something' every 2 hours!
I shopped this watch alarm very hard... There are literally THOUSANDS of smart watches/ sport watches on Amazon (and I probably looked at HALF of them, LOL).
Save time. This one is a WINNER! (Ignore the 3.5 stars, the only negative is that the recharging clip you have to hook onto the back of the watch (and the power lasts a full week, at least) is a bit funky... But that only takes you a few extra seconds to maneuver into position.
It's got a great smartphone app (Apple and Android) so that you can easily set up to 18 daily reminders (a gentle, quiet vibrating-beeping from the watch).
Now... EVERY TWO HOURS ... I get a reminder to GET OFF MY ASS and DO SOMETHING!
I have a variety of "exercise snacks" (a clever idea I picked up from watching a health video that you don't have to do a full-blown, hard core cardio exercise to make a 'dent' in our PD) that may take me less than a minute ... here's some of them:
1. I keep a "hand squeezer" at the most common places in my home that I frequent: a) kitchen b) office c) bedroom night stand... So I'll do '50 squeezes' with each hand to build strength.
2. I just stand in front of a wall ... with my feet back a couple of feet... and I do 3 sets of 15 push-offs against the wall. Very easy and this stretches and builds strength in your arms and chest.
3. Too much sitting in your chair? Then a great exercise is to just stand up... sit down... stand up... sit down... stand up... sit down... you got the idea... The faster you go the more you pump your heart for a good fast workout!
