Help; please. How can I lose weight.

I have read that some people find they lose weight because of the sickness they get with some meds, especially Requip. I also suffer from feeling sick, but have not lost any weight. In fact, I am still gaining weight.

I eat carefully, exercise regularly and generally try to do all the right things, but still I cannot lose any weight. What am I doing wrong? Used to blame the scales but my Wii fit tells me the same.

I know similar questions about weight have been asked before, but I really need helpful advice. Maybe I should just stop eating. Only joking!!

I have the same problem! My weight has gone up by about 21 pounds since i was diagnosed, and its driving me crazy! I have joined a local slimming world group, to see if that can help me.....

I also have gained almost 15 lbs. since diagnosis, and I am only 5'3"! I exercise daily for 45min-1hr. I know age and slowing metabolic rate also affect it, but I am sick of the scales moving up every time I step on them. This disease is bad enough, but add gaining weight and it really does not help the self-esteem!

I have lost almost 40 lbs in 20 months...not easily.

Diet and exercise are my answer, along with prayer.

I have found that the more sugar I eat the hungrier I am.

Not eating obvious sugar helps me a lot.

Also gave up carbonated drinks.

Should mention that when I was on the wrong meds, for me, I was so tired I didn't have the energy to eat healthy or exercise so I gained a lot of weight.

The Dr. at Mayo Clinic let me know I needed to lose wieght. I should have asked him how...since I slept 90% of the day.

Hi Court When you find the answer let me know please I have put on about 2stones in the last year Could it be the medication Requip xL and Stalevo.I value your thoughts.

I am also on Stalevo and Requip. Question solved. It is the meds! Seriously, I think the meds are partly to blame though also think a person's make-up must also be involved. Otherwise, why would some people lose weight and others gain it, on the same meds?

Surely, there must be an answer somewhere.

JennyR I , too, am fighting the battle of the bulge. My weight has never varied until I was diagnosed and put on Stalevo and Azilect. I have gained 35 pounds in 4 years and am embarrassed to go out in public. I am almost desperate, but my neuro says we will wait until the PD is under control until we worry about the weight. Any suggestions besides exercise and diet? I can't count on my left leg for balance.

I had lost 30lbs in about 7 months because of the requip 3x a day. I couldn't take the highs and lows so I was changed to requip xl. I really liked it until sleeping became a issue.I started eating at night to make up for being sick during the day. it took a month and I noticed changes in my weight. I'm only on requip for the last year because Azilect, zelapar and generic selegline would really keep me up. I tried changing the time I took the meds that helped for a few months, then not. I just started amatadine. The Dr. said it was time for me to take something for PD. I was trying to hold off as long as possible. My hand really tremored and walking became a joke. I really had to push myself. Tired all of the time. So exercising just didn't happen. Since starting the new med I actually am feeling pretty good. I do feel I have more energy and can move better. I am sleeping better at night and actually have more energy during the day. I've seen a nutritionalist who tell me the meds can really make a body out of whack. I am trying to get my body back in balance nutrition wise.I'm taking a few supplements to replenish the body and eating healthier to replenish the soul.

Requip and Stalevo, along with Fluoxetene and Mardopar, are my drug list too This is when I put on my weight.I was also told to settle with my meds before worrying about my weight. Recently I have been sent on a G.P. referral to our local gym once a week to seeee how I can cope with that. Feeling fat is not good for my depression.

I gained 40 pounds on Requip. It always made me so ill. Lost it and more when I went to sinemet. Feel much better!

If someone figures out how to loose the weight please let me know. I also have sarcoid so I get out of breathe quickly and have a hard time exercising at all. I am on sinemet and mirapex. I do pilates twice a week to help with balance.
