I think lifespan is primarily a reflection of how a person deals with their health and therefore we should not fret over such statistical assessments.

A pwp in the shorter life span cohort who pulls out all the stops (lifestyle, nutrition, exercise) will live longer than a person in the longer life span cohort who does nothing.

I believe most of the literature says cognitive impairment, not age is the primary factor.

If we don't fall down the stairs and break out neck or inhale a mouthful of food, we'll live quite long enough.

I prefer shorter healthy life than longer life with disabilities

It would depend upon how severe the disability is. I'm 76 (and with symptoms now for 13 years) and fairly well disabled but would be glad to have another 10 years.
