A massive thank you to Prof Bas Bloem for taking the time to talk to our audience last night on the very important subject of Exercise and Parkinson's. And thank you to the 1000+ who registered for the event.

We recorded the event which is now available on our YouTube channel: youtube.com/channel/UCN2A0v...

When you follow the link please take 2 seconds to subscribe as this will help us both:- you will get alerts when we add future recordings, and our profile will get bigger, which means we are more visible on the internet when PwP search for Parkinson's. That way more PwP will find us and can benefit from the knowledge that these experts kindly share with us and hopefully, it will improve the symptoms of other PwP.

Without giving too much of his presentation away, Prof Bloem told us how exercise is an essential tool that we all have at our disposal, which we should consider to be as important to our well-being as Medication. Exercise should be taken ideally 3 x a week for 30 minutes at a rate that makes you "pant but still able to talk", a level that all PwP can find regardless of their fitness. And if 30 mins in one session are hard to manage, he recommends " exercise snacks" throughout the day, little bites of exercise, perhaps just a few minutes at a time so that you reach the 30 minutes over the day- a great suggestion and in his opinion just as effective.

This was a fantastic presentation from one of the World's authorities on PD so we hope you enjoy the recording and that his recommendations help you.

The session will also be available as a Podcast in the next 24 hours, so you can listen to it while out for a walk or perhaps at the Gym!

I was advised to exercise for 30 minutes with my heart rate at 80%-85% of maximum. I'm doing it on a bike, tracking my heart rate, it's more like a 40 minute workout. Also taking the lowest dosage of Sinemet for tremors. Always good to get confirmation. Thanks for sharing this.
