Thank you to Dr Wayne Markman for this very detailed interview on the topic of "Light Therapy for Parkinson's". It was a fascinating presentation with an excellent Q&A afterwards.
It is available now on our YouTube channel so please take a look:
Thank you Michel. Just watched the recording and found it interesting. I have to add though, that my sales pitch alarm was going off throughout the entire session.
Hi Stillstanding. It is a fair comment. I would, however underline the fact that this company is the only one that is funding a range of medical trials meant to assess the efficacy of light therapy. This was a key reason in our decision to interview them.
Our next speaker is Professor Bas Bloem on the topic of nutrition.
Thank you for posting this interview. Very interesting. I have been using red light therapy for over 2 years now. I purchased a helmet & nose piece attachment from Wellred.com.au out of Tasmania. Fabulous small company!
Thank you very much. I know them well and I had the pleasure of interviewing Catherine Hamilton on two occasions. You can find the recordings of those interviews on our YouTube channel.
Merci Michel for the recording! The recent conversation with Wayne Markman on PD light therapy was particularly intriguing, especially his detailed explanation of his own NIR laser devices for the gut and helmet. From a business standpoint, it was indeed perfectly understandable to delve into these aspects, but as a result, further developments in the field received limited attention.
I was particularly hoping that Wayne would touch upon the advancements regarding DBS with NIR, especially when a question about DBS arose. Additionally, I was eagerly anticipating any insights he might share on the effects of sunlight, the most significant light therapy. Sunlight can indirectly affect the gut flora by regulating the immune system. It can also have a direct impact on the gut flora by stimulating certain bacteria important for a healthy gut. Although not like the laser, the depth to which sunlight penetrates the body can be significant.
Despite some missed topics, I remain incredibly grateful for the enlightening content you consistently present in your podcasts. Looking ahead, I am eagerly awaiting the next one featuring Bas Bloem's nutritional advice.
Thank you very much Esperanto. You make a very valid point in relation to the importance of sunlight and I had sent him the research article you had highlighted a few weeks ago. I'm sorry if this did not come up in the questions and answers during this latest webinar and I will make a mental note to bring this up with him again if the opportunity arises.
You did fine Michel, but if Wayne treats NIR devices, definitely should be discussed the far advanced experimental brain implant for treating PD using near-infrared light, developed by the Grenoble-based research institute CEA-Leti and its partners in Boston.
