"Physical activity may be beneficial to brain health, including for people with neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s disease, by promoting increases in brain volume, a long-term follow-up study suggests."
“Our study results indicate that even small behavioral changes, such as walking 15 minutes a day or taking the stairs instead of the elevator, may have a substantial positive effect on the brain and potentially counteract age-related loss of brain matter and the development of neurodegenerative diseases,” Ahmad Aziz, MD, PhD, principal investigator of the research project and study author, said in a press release."
The study, “Association Between Accelerometer-Derived Physical Activity Measurements and Brain Structure: A Population-Based Cohort Study,” was published in Neurology, the medical journal of the American Academy of Neurology.

from the videos i've watched featuring movement disorder specialists... you canNOT overdue exercise... i've seen doctors recommend 5 and 6 days of INTENSIVE cardio, 30 to 40 minutes per session... I just got back from a 3 1/2 hour bike ride/ walking (lots of inclines/ small hills) to the... BEACH!
by the way, did you see my post that i just bought a PEMF full sized therapy mat?Today will be my 5th consecutive day... 30 minutes per session... i bought it on Amazon ...
Long-term treatment with transcranial pulsed electromagnetic fields improves movement speed and elevates cerebrospinal erythropoietin in Parkinson’s disease journals.plos.org/plosone/a...
thanks for the link! next i'm going to buy an intranasal red light therapy device (did you know that there are more 'blood vessels' inside our nose than any other place on our body?)
i just went through that link... it's FANTASTIC! gives me added motivation to stick with my new regimen: 30 minutes PEMP followed by 10 minutes of vibration therapy on my vibration plate machine
also:
1. getting 40 minutes of sun (front and back) -- as the weather permits
2. 2 saunas, 90 minutes long
3. portable vibration machines in my bed that i use while i sleep
4. supplements (of course)
I'm also going to soon add an 'ICE BATH' immediately after my sauna
I've already got several pounds of ice made by my fridge and when i get around 20 pounds... i'm going to TAKE THE PLUNGE!
so i'll be going from 130 degrees in the sauna to about 50 degrees in the ice bath...
I have an infrared dry sauna. I'm only able to stay in there for 30 minutes. I also have a vibrating plate that I stand on for 10 minutes. Thanks for providing such good information.
As for me, the vibration plate machine has been a LIFE-SAVER on at least 3 occasions ... I had SEVERE SEVERE leg cramps that neither my hand-held vibrator or stretching the leg would stop the cramp -- but the vibration plate machine.... STOPPED ... the leg cramps
I just started integrating the VP machine into my regime after I do the PEMF... I have read a couple of studies/ articles that VP machine does help PD symptoms... too soon for me to tell, on that
STAY STRONG!
There's over 130 international clinical trials RIGHT NOW!
I've heard pickle juice, magnesium and potassium are supposed to help with muscle cramping. I'm currently taking Baclofen for cramping and it's somewhat helping but I'm trying to get off it and use something natural
The temperature I use in my sauna is 130°. I always feel better when I use the sauna. Sometimes I get a little light-headed when I get out. But I'm going to try to get back into routine. I usually sit in there for 30 minutes and then hydrate when I'm finished.
Just started using the vibrating plate last week. Will keep you posted. It's supposed to be the same as walking for 30 minutes. I'm on it for 10 minutes. Did a mile walk today and was exhausted. I'll be the vibrating plate tomorrow and then alternate every other day with a regular walk. Hope it helps it's supposed to build strong bones.
by the way, i've had by infrared sauna for almost two years...i have been getting DARK (black/ grey) yukkky stains/toxins leeching from my body onto my towels
----------------------------------------
dummie that i am (sometimes) -- i "think" it may be due to the BLACK sheets that I sleep on...
I just bought WHITE sheets from Amazon (not on my bed yet) --
so I'll see if that makes a difference...
so... have you noticed any toxin-release after your saunas?
Haven't noticed that from the sauna. I don't sweat very much which is probably an issue. I also have been lax in using the sauna. I need to get back in a routine and use it two to three times a week.
