Just read something on Parkinson's News that butyric acid eliminated tremors and symptoms of Parkinson's. Sounds to good to be true. Your thoughts.
Has anyone used Butyric acid for PD? - Cure Parkinson's
Has anyone used Butyric acid for PD?
Do you have a link please?
Too good to be true
Here is a thread on the topic: healthunlocked.com/cure-par...
Hi Smittybear. Butyric acid is part of my supplements stack, together with many other supplements. It was prescribed by my nutritionist and I have read that it is helpful for people with a “leaky gut “ (which paradoxically some tests revealed I don’t have…). Still, I think my PD is related to my gut (“gut first “) and that butyric acid is an important supplement. Is it working? I am feeling generally rather better and, although it is hard to attribute it to any specific supplement, I think it is worth discussing butyric acid with your nutritionist with a view to giving it a try.
my husband takes it and his tremors have not gone away so far
My husband is the one with Parkinsons but I started taking it before he did and I have had good experience with it getting rid of inflammation in the digestive system
I have been on Butyrex (brand but still Butyric acid) taken together with Niacin for about 2 years. I take other stuff too. I wasn’t sure it was making any difference so didn’t renew when I ran out of tabs 3 months ago but continued the Niacin (check out recent postings re Niacin and Nicotinamide Riboside). I feel worse - more fatigue, less smooth gait and other things but can’t be sure anything is attributable to stopping the Butyrex so I am about to start it again to see if the issues improve or whether it’s just the natural PD progression. I am becoming increasingly sceptical about the value of supplements generally except where there is a proven deficiency needing to be addressed. I carry on with them just in case one turns out to be the silver bullet. The problem is that there is always the possibility that what may seem to be an improvement or a worsening may have some other root cause and it’s near impossible to isolate cause and effect without living the life of a lab rat. So in the end I would say try whatever you like the sound of and, if you think it’s benefitting you, that’s great and there’s no need to know the reason or whether it’s all just in the mind!
I tried after one bottle I saw no results.
