High Dose B2 ?

I noticed this paragraph from the following report

askdrray.com/parkinsons-dis...

"Riboflavin (=vitamin B2) is an important ingredient in a number of metabolic processes in brain cells that result in the production of dopamine, a brain hormone that is required for regulating muscle coordination in various parts of the brain. This translates into a stable gait, normal muscle strength, good balance and normal cognitive functioning."

If the above is true i wonder should we be taking high dose B2 as well as B1 ?

Just a thought :)

High-dose vitamin B2 does not seem to have done anything for me. I had already been taking vitamin B2 as part of my B complex supplement.

Unfortunately in my case, PD was diagnosed "under B2" long term treatment. I take 400 mg riboflavin per day, which is what was the intervention dose in clinical trials for prevention of migraines in adults. With regards to migraines the effect was dramatic in the sense that with the first capsule 10 years ago, my brain fog disappeared immediately and 90% of my migraines' attacks disappeared.

One of my brothers started to take it with good effect for difficulty in concentration and various symptoms in that realm. One day he let me know he had increased his dose to 800 mg and since then he felt even better. I decided to do so too as last year my PD deteriorated under COVID lockdown and I was struggling with concentration- with increased benefits again.

Ten years ago, when I started I contacted the lead neurologist who had planned the trial to ask why 400 mg. He is the one who told me the reason to take such high dose is because B2 absorption is very ineffective and irregular. Your urine becomes very yellow when you absorbed B2. It's a way to monitor.

Contrary opinion here -

‘…bright yellow urine could be a sign that your body has a more difficult time absorbing these vitamins, often stemming from genetic variations that keep you from using some forms of vitamin B as effectively as others...Just because you’re excreting some of your B-vitamins through urination doesn’t mean that your body isn’t absorbing them. Instead, it indicates that your body is taking what it needs and flushing out the excess.’

Well, my urine never has that colour when I don't take riboflavin.

Keep throwing out ideas Jeff. I don't think there is one solution. I think we are looking for a Rubic's cube of combinations. (Have I mentioned I only have a HS degree?).
