This has been a game changer for my symptoms personally

Hi Everyone,

I am not on this forum very often as I have found some good personal things in my PD fighting tool belt that help me in a good way, and this is one of the things I have stared doing. Granted it's not easy but well worth doing , here is a short video worth watching:

youtu.be/-IvJ15Ug6fc

(This has been re-uploaded, owever in the case of it not working a 2nd time look up Dr Eric Berg on YouTube and in particular a video entitled - What happens after 14 days of cold showers)

Now before anyone starts putting in their 2 cents of doubt over what the video is talking about, I'm just trying to share low/no cost tools that can genuinely help one's that have this darn affliction.

If interested I'm happy to confirm the following things in the video to be correct In my personal case of Parkinsons symptoms:

-reducing of inflammation , pain In the back front being stooped goes away for a period

- energy increases

-loss of stubborn fat

-mood increases hugely and I'm not just a grump all the time

-recovery from exercise is literally halved

- I have had periods actually after a ice bath where my tremors have stopped and I'm In 'off periods' for meds (happy to talk more if requested) and I operate quite well for a PWP

-when the kids bring sicknesses home from daycare I don't get the sickness, where as My wife/kids/inlaws get sick but I do not

I have nothing to gain from this so no quackery from me either. The first actual ice bath I had was really cold however the next day I actually took My first set of meds at 2:30 in the arvo, my wife and I had sex literally when I woke up first up I the morning, the hormone boost was intense I must say. Afterwards we took the kids 3 and 4 year old boys to a water park, and as I got tired and the nervous system got tired and started heating up a bit I went down rapidly and needed meds from 2:30 onwards.

Once again if you want more Information I'm happy to share, except the time with my wife... a gentleman never tells....

This doesn't happen after cold showers as much but hard on my heart I wish I started doing the cold expose earlier.

Best of luck everyone 👍

So sorry Kia, I'm having trouble, go onto YouTube and look up the following: Dr Berg- What happens after 14 days of cold showers, the video is only a day or so old... I'll try and sort the link out in the meantime mate

Thanks for a great writeup! Going to wait for warmer weather before I experiment with this idea.

Brrrrr! I already started shaking more intense! As far as the hormones maybe they went up but their user went down and very small. LOL!

I have been doing it for the past few weeks including Wim Hof breathing techniques, cold shower and more recently 3-minutes of cold bath instead of the shower. It’s too early to conclude but I can say there are good things into it.

Please elaborate in specifics exactly what you mean by "good things into it". Thanks.

Cold exposure has made me to feel more alive and deal with stressful situation with more patience. Like I said it’s early to conclude. The only setback is increasing norepinephrine level that in my case I feel stiffer. I have to give it more time to see how it goes.

Ps: Wim Hof says in the beginning you may feel worse but after a few months it regulates the autonomic nervous system and the outcome is amazing.

I have been incorporating this daily routine for the last several weeks as well. Hard to get past the one minute mark however. It was introduced to me by a fitness/life coach friend. I feel it has reduced stress and anxiety and given me more energy

Great, as long as you are telling the truth, what works works and is of interest and value, so many thanks!

I agree it works wonders. Been doing wim hof method with ice bath for couple of years now. More energy, less tremor, better mood. Really helps

I occasionally try this after a session on the stationary bike when I am hot. Then I go to bed and it helps me sleep.

The Wim Hof method is anti-inflammatory – see here:

scienceofparkinsons.com/202...

Alpha synuclein is a molecule of inflammation and the Wim Hof method is anti-inflammatory so it stands to reason it could be helpful for Parkinson's. Likewise for other anti-inflammatory treatments. Cinnamon seems to be helpful for Parkinson's, probably due to its anti-inflammatory effect. See my post here:

What do you mean “hard on your heart.” Can the shock of the.cold water cause heart failure or attacks? The link didn’t work for.me but I’ll try searching for the video. Thank you !

No it's a mistake in my spelling, I mean hand on my heart

HORMESIS ! 😀. It’s amazing to me the seemingly random things that can help us! Amazing!

I lasted about 1 minute. Started shivering had to turn on the warm water. Is there a way to use into the cold shower for longer period of time.?

I think Wim Hof has suggested that it can be less extreme - even such as a cold shower with one limb in at a time. From the point of view that some is better than none. He realised some were not doing it at all because it feels too hard. His reality-TV type programme Freeze the Fear is actually quite informative and motivating - and it was the right format to watch with my teens. Who now have cold showers as a result...

I yelled "charge" and shook my way into the shower very slowly, but I started at about 30 seconds for the first few days and built up to 1 minute and then so on and so forth. I have dropped having a cold shower each night, I don't know why, however that said and done a huge part of my symptom management is jumping into the pool in the backyard when I feel my nervous system starting to warm up. The majority of the time the water is cooler than my body so the swim really helps, it also helps with stress management and helping my body to not go into that frozen locked fight or flight state. My goals are to get up in the morning and as soon as I have done my pee jump straight into a cold shower...every morning,

I have found the ice baths help in reducing symptoms when they get really bad... I'd recommend them for symptom management for anyone.
