Parkinson's disease (PD) patients apart from motor dysfunctions exhibit respiratory disturbances. Their mechanism is still unknown and requires investigation. Our research was designed to examine the activity of phrenic (PHR) and hypoglossal (HG) nerves activity during a hypoxic respiratory response in the 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA) model of PD. The altered pre-inspiratory hypoglossal nerve activity indicates modifications to the central mechanisms controlling the activity of the HG nerve and may explain respiratory disorders seen in PD,

Breath/Lung/Breathing shortness
That article was indeed informative, thank you. Sounds like I may be stuck with this thing, except it's requiring more and more Sinemet to keep it at bay.
haven't been keeping up with this, Roy, but I know the Big and Loud voice coach for my husband recommended a little device which measures how much you exhale, which is a good part of the problem. also, i have literally saved my husband's life several times by using Siberian Sea Buckthorn in the nebulizer....he could only take so much med as the one used caused afib. that stuff is good for just about everything! also wonderful for those terrible bruises people get when they are on blood thinners or when they just fall or bump into something. unfortunately, the directions are in Cryllic but i just used the amount called for in the nebulizer for respiratory and just rub it on the skin for those problems. not easy to find but available on amazon. it must be 'siberian' as that is the medical version of the oil...orange in color. it comes from a fruit which is used in baking, for salad oils AND to make the product i describe.
I’m having trouble w laryngitis and some chest pain. Are you suggesting nebulize with Siberian Sea Buckthorn oil?
Thanks- John G
i guess it depends on what your chest pain is from. i can only tell you that respiration was a problem for my husband, not only from the muscular problems involved in PD but from aspirating, which frequently results in pneumonia for PDers. The Sea Buckthorn always worked with that. I think magnesium is supposed to be good for respiratory issues as well....supplements, of course.
I'm pretty sure my problem is aspiration. I have phlegm but it's clear, no sign of infection, no fever.
Is this the product you use:

Also, when you nebulize the oil, do you use a water/mist type nebulizer?
Thanks for your help - John G
You can be tested to see if you swallow correctly. Aspiration is dangerous as food or liquid goes into the lung and causes pneumonia. Yes that is the kind of nebulizer we used. Sea buckthorn is reputed to be good for the respiratory system.
