What is the Best Supplement to Alleviate Trembling?

I feel like my back is against the wall when it comes to trembling. My neurologist is skeptical about supplements, so it's like I'm being forced to take powerful medications which can have serious short- and long-term side effects, drug interactions, withdrawal effects, etc..

I'd really like to know what the best supplements are available to deal with trembling and the anxiety which causes it, and is caused by it. For those who have experience with this problem and how to solve it, please let me know the brand name as well.

Hi Alock,

I assume you mean resting tremor, one of the main symptoms of PD.

The only medicines I am aware of that can reliably and consistently eliminate resting tremor are PD meds (e.g., c/l).

As to the safety of it, there is a lot of misinformation about c/l. Get educated and learn the truth.

See the resources found in the "Educate yourself." section of healthunlocked.com/cure-par....

Supplement interventions that may improve Parkinson's symptoms take months to have an effect. In the case of high-dose thiamine four months. Meanwhile if you need symptom control that is what prescription meds are for.. I personally prefer a time release formulation of levodopa. If you want to go natural you can go with Mucuna, but it is still levodopa.

Were you instead referring to "internal tremors", as opposed to external tremors, aka. "rest tremor"? If so, you might receive mixed opinions here. One response that you might receive is pregabalin, but expect differing opinions too...

Whatever tremor it is, the muscles involved in this tremor are too weak is my experience and I would say make especially these muscles stronger by exercises. Even when it seems that you make the tremors worse I have seen improvement and I am tremor free. I fought with the tremors and did not spare the muscles! If you do it will get worse I am afraid. I can shave and brush my teeth without tremors. Yes Levadopa helps and probably vitamin B1.

Full spectrum CBD tincture 1ml twice a day. I also take Mannitol, B1 and the pharmacological drug Amantadine, 100mg, twice a day. Helps me control my tremor for the best part of the time. Although I still tremor badly when emotional feeling anxious, fearful, when in a lot of pain or when I’m frustrated. The thing that helps me ‘calm down’ and steady my tremors on the spot, within minutes is meditation and for quick results, self hypnosis. I count backwards from 10 and by 1 my body is relaxed and my tremor is still.

There is a Danish woman who has a website where she treats people with PD based on the theory that it is a stress related illness and that your body is stuck in fight, flight or freeze.HOPEshortcut.com is the website.

I mention it as another alternative view.

Hello Alock2020 ~ my husband is the PwP. I think we have finally found what is working for his anxiety and tremor. He was dx 12/2020. It has taken us this long to figure this all out for him. I won’t go into ALL the other supplements he’s on ~ the list is too long. I will only mention what we have definitely seen improvements with.

For anxiety ~ B1 as Thiamine Mononitrate 25mg (not the preferred form of B1 on this forum, but is the one that works for us) 2x Daily w/breakfast & lunch, minus 2 doses per week (a little holiday).

For tremor (this we just started but seems to be very, very good(!) ~ DopaBoost 1 pill 3x daily taken with his perscription of C/L (carbidopa/levodopa) first thing in the morning (6:15-ish) and mid morning and last dose mid afternoon.

Yesterday was day 2 and there was hardly any tremor and I think that he didn’t have any anxiety moments either!!! It could be too early to mention ~ but maybe not!! I am hopeful and optimistic!!

My husband takes so many other supplements ~ is it the combination of all that we do??? I am unable to answer that question so we just keep doing everything and I continue to read/research and ask questions.

Also, remember good diet and exercise as others mention.

Again, I say this is what seems to be working for us. You need to do your own research and work with your doctor.

I hope this helps ~ God bless & have a fabulous day!
