Hi all, I am taking a whole host of supplements and currently having more good days than bad days (I am still early stages). A few months back I read on this forum, but forgot to save the post, about a particular supplement that was good for fungal nail infections (which apparently are common in PWP).
Anyway, I bought this supplement and started taking it and now, months later, my toe nails are growing clear again. But I cannot remember which supplement it is out of the many that I take! I want to make sure I do not inadvertently stop taking it (and would like to add it to my husbands stack) so can anyone suggest what it might be? I have tried doing a search but no luck.

In case you aren't able to find what worked for you, both coconut oil and tea tree oil have shown benefit for nail fungus. Coconut oil has a mild smell compared to tea tree oil which is noticeably stronger smelling.
UPDATE, so it is vit b2 (riboflavin). I have been taking it since Feb (it is now end of may) and my toenails are all improving, so imagine what ot might be doing for other more important areas!
Thank you for getting back to me. I’ve had trouble getting a low enough dose of B1 for my HwP so he has recently stopped taking it altogether. It was just one more thing to deal with & didn’t seem to help.
Yesterday I purchased B2 & will start him on it today. He has a fungal hammer toe on his tremor side that causes him GREAT discomfort & is schedule to remove the toe nail (again!) in a couple of months. So I want to thank you for sharing your experience. Hopefully we have as good outcome from B2 as you have had.
One other question ~ why are you considering increasing your dose?
Hi Lizzy, yes I seem to 'overdose' on B1 very easily, but when I fist took it, that day, I had so much energy! Currently I am taking EZMelts (B1) because they are only 12.5 mg each (taken under the tongue). In this post he talks about taking it twice a day I think, I plan to read it again in detail, however, maybe it is not necessary, the dose I am on is certainly doing the trick. healthunlocked.com/cure-par...
Maybe I should have my HwP try that. He is doing very well right now. We work with a naturopathic dr that works closely with Dr. Laura Mischley & she has him on Naltrexone & I’m thinking that’s what’s helping him.
I need to rephrase my question ~ you had mentioned that you were going to increase your B2 dose. I was wondering why if the 100 mg dose seems to be helping your fungal toe?
'In this post he talks about taking it twice a day I think, I plan to read it again in detail, however, maybe it is not necessary, the dose I am on is certainly doing the trick.healthunlocked.com/cure-par...
This sentence was referring to B2 rather than B1 😀
in the post you linked to 38yomale says he took B2 every 8 hours, but I didn’t see where he said how many mg’s. I think I will start my HwP on 100 mg 2x daily and see how it goes.
He is currently not on a B complex because his NP doc has him on Homocysteine Factors by Pure Encapsulations for elevated homocysteine level & didn’t think he needed it. However, I’ve been thinking about putting him back on the B complex, so I guess I will after reading all this.
Vitamin B2 is water soluble. This means it could be dissolved into a small amount of lotion and applied directly to the whole toe while taking oral B2 to potentially speed the process??
The riboflavin is water soluble, so no gin is needed to dissolve it. The B2 powder should dissolve in the lotion alone. It just needs to be mixed very well via stirring or shaking.
I have a fungal hammer toe. It also causes me a lot of pain where toe roles under and it makes it difficult to walk and actually makes my butt hurt on the other side. Toe Separators almost eliminated the pain. They can be used while sleeping and walking by use them walking.
Thank you. We did try several different types all to no avail.
His toe was keeping him from falling and staying asleep. His NP doc has him spraying a little magnesium oil on the toe/foot then applying Badger Sore Muscle Rub (has cayenne fruit extract in it) on his toe before bed and he’s sleeping like a baby again. However, we’re still looking for a permanent solution & hopefully it isn’t the toenail removal option.
I have used essential oil of wild mountain oregano to great effect - applying it directly to the affected nail. Soaking the affected area in garlic water is also very effective. The oregano can be taken internally - best to dilute in coconut or extra virgin olive oil as it is quite potent.
Oreganol P73 by North American Herb & Spice. It may appear expensive but it is very potent and in that light, great value. It can be applied directly to the offending nail.
I file the nail before applying the oil. I do not use it daily but switch to another such as Tea Tree or Patchouli. And again, I use neat on the nail. But be aware, I apply patchouli to the nail only and not the skin. You can of course blend the patchouli with a suitable carrier such as extra virgin olive oil, coconut, almond, etc.
I do this twice per day - am and pm
Garlic Foot Soak:
Crush 4 or 5 large garlic cloves, allowing them to stand for about 15min
Place in a heat resistant jar and add approx. 500ml (about 2 US cups I believe) of boiling water.
Allow to stand for an hour or so.
Prepare a basin of warm-hot water (a comfortable hot) and add contents of the jar.
Sit back and enjoy.
By all means add a suitable essential oil of choice to the soak.
BTW, once this basin has been used for garlic, it will always carry the scent
And keep in mind diet, stress and indeed medications that may pressure the immune system so and allow the fungus opportunity to bloom.
Finally, some find success with Vicks VapoRub, 5% Hydrogen Peroxide (be aware that the latter may weaken the nail), Listerene, etc
