I've always wanted to know the difference. In reading this article it seems they have differences as well as similarities. It seems to me that sleep issues & REM are more from low serotonin and some of the movement issues are more from the low dopamine. If I'm incorrect will someone explain the differences & why we mostly look at dopamine? Thank you.

I guess this forum recommends melatonin for sleep.
While serotonin seems to both induce sleep and keep you up, it's a chemical precursor to melatonin, the main hormone involved in sleep. Your body needs serotonin from your pineal gland to produce melatonin. Both dopamine and serotonin are involved in your sleep-wake cycle.
Thank you for posting.
Listen to Andrew Huberman’s podcasts. He talked about both recently.
Trixie,
How are you doing? You haven't posted for some time.
I’m ok PD wise. Just really struggling with single parenting teenagers which isn’t doing my mental health any good. And no support is available.
