Does anyone have any knowledge or information on the enhancing effect of carbidopa in Sinemet-type medications compared to levodopa found in Mucuna? I believe I've read somewhere 4 or 5 times, is that approximately right? Might a standard 100/25 C/L tablet be as powerful as 500mg of levodopa from mucuna? And are there deleterious effects from the extra levodopa in the non-brain blood system when taking higher amounts of mucuna-sourced levodopa?

5 times is the rule of thumb used when comparing levadopa with 1:4 CL. Obviously metabolisms vary so it is a broad guide not an absolute.
The excitement about Carbidopa or Bensarazide (the other DDCI) is that if levadopa is converted into dopamine outside the brain it causes problems including nausea, blood pressure and heart rate, and glaucoma, in high doses.
That is going to be the same for macuna as for synthetic ldopa
Levodopa, as a precursor of dopamine in dopaminergic neurons and of noradrenaline in noradrenergic neurons, would actually release as much noradrenaline inside the synaptic clefts of noradrenergic neurons as dopamine in those of dopaminergic neurons… One of the expected consequences is: low blood pressure...
