Do any supplements work?

I've read through many, many posts on this site claiming that particular supplements, or combinations of supplements, slow or stop or reverse the progression of Parkinson's Disease. Off the top of my head, I've seen posts on the following:

- Vitamin B1

- CoQ 10

- Ceylon Cinnamon

- Mannitol

- Vanilla

- Omega 3 Fatty Acids

- Sesaminol/Sesame Seeds

- Broccoli Sprout Powder

- Mucuna Purens

- Resveratrol

I'm sure that I've missed many other recommended supplements. My question is: do any of these supplements work, based on either personal experiences of those in this group or scientific research? Please feel free to add other supplements that I haven't mentioned.

I don't think anything works for all PwP, but you be the judge :

I've tried a few, some might have helped some might not - impossible to tell.

Any transient improvement/decline could have been attributed to something I ate and/or the vagaries of the meds.

For me what works is minimal meds to keep moving combined with maximum exercise/movement and a nutritious diet.

And if I'm at home, the radio takes priority over the TV ( the TV will vacumn your life away if you let it)

Above all, I try to enjoy today, as Gymbag says...."it's later than you think"😊

I think certain evidence based supplements might do something to ease the effects of PD- some more noticeable than others. I've done some research as well as tried them. When I take these I have less symptoms- But make no mistake about it- they do NOT take the place of regular exercise- a healthy diet (less carbs, low sugar, not much red meat, ) Lot's of vegetables, fruit , plenty of rest, to name a few.

The supplements I recommend are:

Lion's Mane, Resveratrol, Grape Seed Extract, B12, B complex, B2, Rhodiola, L- Theanine, Gotu Kola, Magnesium, Gingko, Omega 3 oil, MCT oil, Wheat grass..

I can take all these and more, but if I don't exercise I feel lousy..

Let's add Lithium orotate to the list. It has helped me and others with both mood and brain fog issues. Also of note , it is highly recommended by famous Parkinson's nutritionist Dr Laurie Mischley.

I also want to mention, on the subject of diet and nutrition, that everyone with Parkinson's disease should at least try eliminating wheat and dairy for a few weeks and see if it helps them. And by eliminating, I mean zero, not just cutting back.
