I am sorry if this was previously discussed but I couldn't find it anywhere. I was told to take my L/C with Emerg-C but I just can't get it down. Can I take it with an Ascorbic Acid supplement instead?
Levodopa/Carbidopa and vitamin C - Cure Parkinson's
Sure. The only difference is emergen-C has some flavorings and some traces of B vitamins. I was not aware of the need to take carbidopa levodopa with vitamin C, although it is as it happens I often do..
Thanks for the reply! That was one of the first things I was told when I started L/C
I have seen in the past discussions around the method described here, as a rescue for a better, more smooth absorption of ldopa

I can't remember where. At the time I didn't try, somehow it looked to me complicated and deemed to fail because of the need to have the solution homogeneous as you sample your next dose. I may have been lazy
This info regarding vitamin C was presented in one of Laurie M. Parkinson's School discussions to improve the bioavailability of C/L in stomach acid. She has spoken of the benefit of citicoline extending life of C/L. I would use plain ascorbic acid as the Emergen C has a bit of B6 in the ingredients which is not to be taken with C/L.
Thank you. I tried that powdered c and couldn’t get it down. That’s why I was asking about a c supplement.
I use gummys for when I can't do powder - when I'm out. There are 250mg in each gummy of C. Super easy to take.
According to the following article adding 200 mg of vitamin C to each dose of levodopa will aid in Sinemet/Madopar absorption. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/156...
I was told by my neurologist to take with a Little orange juice!
