Further to my other posts on mercury amalgam the mercury amalgam industry confuse people into thinking that elemental mercury vapor is no more toxic than natural mercury.. In nature the mercury is combined with other elements which make it much less reactive and therefore much less dangerous, though of course all mercury compounds are still highly toxic.
The other metals in the filling are also toxic and patients can also become hypersensitive to them. Mercury can create hypersensitivity not only to itself but also to other allergens.
The mercury amalgam is not stable and the mercury vapor leaks out 24 hours a day due to a number of factors:--
a] corrosion
b] mechanical pressure from eating food or hot drinks or brushing teeth
c] a battery is created in the oral cavity from the different metals and the electric current displaces mercury which has the lowest potential [ simple O level physics]
d] hot drinks or food expand the mercury and metals which may crack the teeth
leading to disintegration of the filling.Because the filling is normally repaired by the addition of more amalgam, the industry claim that it has not failed.
The industry have claimed that the mercury has an anti-bacterial effect. However mercury has long been discarded for use as an antibiotic due to the horrendous side effects. Modern research shows that the bacteria develop resistance after a few weeks. Though the industry is guilty of supporting mass medication without the knowledge or consent of the patient. This is highly unethical and a blatant breach of human rights.
The metals in the amalgam can contain pollutants including thallium which is even more dangerous tha mercury.
There are bacteria both in the human body and environment which convert the mercury into methyl mercury which is then about 100 times more toxic.
More information can be seen on the site smoking teeth=poison gas and there are some books on the subject.
