The only thing I thought was interesting was when he said when you're using dopamine make sure you're supporting your detox pathways, with glutathione ect.. because the body will make ammonia, a lot of hydrogen peroxide and dopal.

I can't believe Dr Mischley lets him represent her. He suggests that L-Dopa meds make PD brains worse because it increases dopal and toxic metabolites. I call B.S. because even with dopaminergic supplementation, a Parkinson's brain is still not making even close to a normal amount of Dopamine and therefore subsequent metabolites. And furthermore, he doesn't suggest an alternative. Eat keto? That's cute but it is not going to make a big enough dent in your dopamine shortages. I would do that diet in addition to l-dopa anyway, but it is not a stand alone treatment. And you can take a look at the underlying genetic causation all day long , but the only way you can stop that malfunction is to edit the damaged gene, and at that point, you're already working with less than 70% of a normal dopaminergic system. There is no way known yet to go back to an intact system. Surely you can try loading in stem cells but the long axons and dendrites that make the intricate and delicate connections are gone and not sure how much neuroregenertion is going to return them.

My point is , don't let this guy tell you that taking mucuna or Levadopa is going to make you worse. You're going to get worse with or without it, you may as well get some relief along the way. Take your thiamine hcl with it , according to Dr Costantini, a Dr that knows what he's talking about.

It's so easy for someone who is in great shape and doesn't have Parkinson's to say, gee whiz, all you have to do is get 8 hrs of sleep and eat organic and work out for an hour every other day and you'll be as perfect as any gene pool lottery winner. "Yeah I just ate a half once of liver and I was flyin'! I mean, I scared myself!", he says. Am I just jealous? Sometimes I feel like going on a rant, and today just happened to be the day. Sorry friends, you know I love y'all!!

I only watched a minute or two from 56min but I think the discussion was around long term amphetamine use in those that don't have PD.

That was part of the discussion but in the next few minutes they said their bunk about l-dopa supplementation.

Oh OK. I lost interest.

Me too, lol! But I forced myself to watch thinking maybe I can learn something. I'm a desperate sucker, is what I learned.

He can be compared to Mercola, it’s all about the money (and ego).

Basso, There is nothing to be sorry about! You are speaking as an experienced person with PD, and know what you are talking about! Messing with dopamine protocol, prescribed by a movement disorders specialist, is like asking for trouble! Dopamine replacement therapy is absolutely essential, to the functioning ability, of those of us, who have advanced enough PD, in our daily lives! Thank You for standing up for Levodopa/Mucunã therapy, and thiamine supplementation! You are so right, in saying that “for someone who does not have Parkinson’s, and is in great shape, it is easy to recommend 8 hours of sleep, eat organic, and work out an hour every other day, and that will be as perfect as any gene pool lottery winner”! From one basso to another, I can vouch that before I ‘acquired’ PD, I followed a strict sleep, diet, exercise routine that worked well! 15 years down the road, this former ‘World Gym” employee, and gym rat, is NOT the same! Cogwheel rigidity, resting tremors, muscle stiffness and cramping, along with autonomic system involvement ( digestion, heart, etc. ) has taken a huge toll on my body, and ability to function well! Without Sinemet, and some other important medicines and supplements, I would definitely probably be in a wheelchair! So, I, for one, appreciate your input, and good advice, in this forum, basso! Again, thanks for your contributions to ‘Cure Parkinson’s’!

Don't beat yourself up as I told my GP "something's gonna get me", so we'll work with what we have got". Now, my dad had PD and he died in 1976 and believe me the treatment has not moved on. I am so grateful to Dr. Costantini for his invaluable research as I can smile again and am not constipated, My main problem was when to take the medication as it should not be taken with protein, I get that, but it is not easy to tie down a time to medicate and a time to eat. Especially as we like to eat protein - not keto particularly but a smoke salmon sarnie at lunch time will do me fine"Then a two line answer to a question on this site from Roy Prop gave me the answer. 8 am 2pm 8pm. This works a treat - even the PD nurse approved. She counted it out on her fingers and said yes that's every six hours. So have a cuppa before rising with a biscuit and whatever meds need to be on an empty stomach then have your PD med at eight am and lunch at 12 - 1,00 an early dinner with protein and 8pm the last PD meds and don't forget to at least try the B1 protocol. It won't cure us but it will allow us to smile at whoever makes the tea!

You are right. And we are all different. Like others have said here my husband and I had been eating organic and doing all the so called good things for our bodies when we both became seriously run down. The only thing that I can agree with is that the accumulation of toxins in our environment is the cause of most illnesses. And that is what happened to us. I've said this before so will try to make it brief. Simply said we were both being injured by an Electrical "Smart Meter" because it was installed outside on our home but within three of where we slept for 6 yrs. But my husband also was installing WIFI the last 3 yrs of his employment which was also the last 3 yrs of those 6 yrs. So he was exposed to micro radiation both during the day and night. Since we have replaced the "Smart Meter" with a "mechanical" meter and made other changes to protect ourselves from wireless technologies I have gotten my health back but my husband was exposed more and now has Parkinson's. Dave was also tested high for some heavy metals. So we have both done detoxing for those. Parkinson individuals can also benefit by trying to increase their glutathione levels. Some who question if EMFs can cause harm should know that I developed chronic hives over those 6 yrs which went away after replacing the "Smart Meter" and this was proof enough for us that EMFs caused us harm. The problem is that we have all become addicted to these wireless gadgets and aren't aware that they can harm us. I am thankful for this blog. My husband takes mucuna pruriens and is trying high dose thiamine.
