Mixing Vaccine Types?

Has anyone received two different types of COVID vaccines? I’ve heard “mixing and matching” is being done in Europe, although not in the States as yet. I had a first Moderna shot and am thinking of getting J&J for my second. Any information will be appreciated. Thanks- JG

I live in the U.K. and as far as I m aware they are doing ‘trials’ on this, but the NHS offer you the same vaccine for the second dose. They are proposing to give the over 70 s another Covid booster in the autumn but as yet I think it’s not been made official yet.

Here in Quebec Canada, if you had AZ for the first shot, they give you any other one for the second shot. I think it has more to do with the availability than anything else

I'm in Ontario, Canada. Here, if you had AZ for your first dose, you can get it or one of the mRNA vaxxes for your second.

Hi Reedboat

Before considering the vaccince a read of the following,I believe, is very important and truly eye-opening. And do note that none of the trials for any of the offerings have included subjects suffering from Parkinson's or any neurological condition

It seems a little scary to mix a vaccine created in two doses with one that was created for just one dose. And by different companies using different methods. You definitely need to talk to a doctor about it.

Great question, Reedboat. I asked my primary care physician and she said that presently there's no evidence or guidance on mixing/matching covid vaccines. So, for me, the answer is no. However, since you are in the USA and if you are brave enough to experiment on your own, nothing stops you from going to a different vaccinator and get a new vaccine of your choice 😂🤓. Obviously, the second one ain't going to be free, but the cost is minimal anyways. Unfortunately, this will be at your own risk and for "legal purposes" I must state that I am not a doctor, I am just a layman and I am clearly stating that you must ask your doctor before making any decisions about treatment options for medical care that you would seek out on your own accord.

These are the articles I read up on this practice and I am sharing with you and the forum just in the name of transparency. The first article from Bloomberg was the reason why I asked my doctor for advice. I must admit that I am not brave enough to disregard the advice of my doctor😪🥲.
